Symptoms: Swelling, warmth, redness, fever. 4. Treatment: Antibiotics, wound debridement. D. Delayed Union 1. Definition: Prolonged healing process of a fracture. 2. Causes: Poor blood supply, nutritional deficiencies. 3. Symptoms: Slower healing, persistent pain. 4. Treatment: Nutritional support, physical therapy. E. Fat Embolism Syndrome 1. Definition: Fat particles enter the bloodstream after a fracture. 2. Causes: Long bone fractures, particularly in the femur. 3. Symptoms: Respiratory distress, confusion, petechiae. 4. Treatment: Supportive care, oxygen therapy. III. Nerve and Blood Vessel Damage A. Fractures can injure nearby nerves and blood vessels. B. Complications: Numbness, tingling, impaired circulation. C.
