🔹 TAQUIZOÍTO: un taquizoíto invasivo de división rápida. Es la forma que se multiplica rápidamente durante la infección aguda.
🔹 BRADIZOÍTO: un bradizoíto de división lenta en quistes tisulares, que puede persistir dentro de las células humanas durante períodos prolongados. Es la forma latente que se aloja en los tejidos (cerebro, músculos, ojos).
🔹 ESPOROZOÍTO: una etapa ambiental, el esporozoíto, protegido dentro de un ooquiste. Los ooquistes, notablemente estables ambientalmente, se transmiten a otros huéspedes por ingestión inadvertida.
Los ooquistes son eliminados en las heces de los felinos infectados y pueden sobrevivir en el medio ambiente durante meses o años. Cuando son ingeridos por humanos o animales, liberan esporozoítos que invaden el intestino y se convierten en taquizoítos.
Los taquizoítos se multiplican rápidamente y se diseminan por todo el cuerpo, donde se convierten en bradizoítos y forman quistes tisulares que persisten de por vida.
