Telegram blocked in Somalia The Somali government has decided to block the TikTok🎵 and Telegram✈️ apps, as well as the online betting site 1XBET, in the country, saying they are being used by "terrorists" for propaganda purposes. According to the ministry, these platforms are being used by "terrorists" and "immorality groups" to distribute violent images and videos and mislead the public. The decision comes ahead of a second phase of a military offensive against the radical Islamist Shebab, who have been waging a bloody uprising against the central government in Mogadishu for more than 15 years. The Ministry of Communications and Technology said in a statement that it has ordered ISPs to cut off access to the three platforms by August 24.
