(Heroes’ Memorial Day)
On 21 March 1943, Adolf Hitler visited the Zeughaus Berlin, the old armory on Unter den Linden, to inspect captured Soviet weapons as part of his Heldengedenktag speech and ceremony in the wake of the catastrophic German defeat at Battle of Stalingrad.
A group of leading military officials —among them President of Prussia and high commander of the Luftwaffe Hermann Görring, Reich leader of the Waffen SS Heinrich Himmler, Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel, and Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz — were present as well.
This festive season spare a thought for Ursula Haverbeck, the brave lady who is serving another year in prison, having already served a 2.5 year jail term in 2020, because of "her belief that no one was gassed to death at Auschwitz."
