Ledger CTO: 4,000 BTC Withdrawn From Liquid Bridge, “Whitehat” Claim Raises Doubts Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet said about 4,000 BTC were withdrawn from the Liquid bridge, with an OP_RETURN message stating, “we are whitehats. contact us on chain.” He argued that white hats do not drain a bridge and then seek contact on-chain, comparing the situation to the Ronin hack, where attackers compromised validator keys to steal roughly $625 million, and to the Euler attacker’s attempt to negotiate the return of funds after the exploit. Blockstream has responded via an on-chain message, asking the party to contact its security team through an official channel. — link

Bitcoin Policy Institute: MENA Crypto Transaction Volume Reaches $350 Billion as Saudi Arabia Leads Growth The Bitcoin Policy Institute said the Middle East and North Africa has become one of the world’s fastest-growing crypto markets, with annual on-chain transaction volume rising from about $100 billion in 2022 to roughly $350 billion in 2025–2026. Turkey remains the region’s largest market, with annual transaction volume approaching $200 billion, while the UAE recorded about $150 billion in crypto transaction volume in 2025. Saudi Arabia was the fastest-growing market, up 154% year over year, followed by Qatar at 120%. The report said conflict and currency depreciation have increased the use of BTC and U.S. dollar-backed stablecoins as hedges in some markets, while Gulf states have emerged as regional digital-asset growth hubs through regulation and greater institutional participation. — link

WOO X had not issued a public statement addressing the complaints at the time of his post. WOO X was acquired in late 2025 by FusionX Digital, a firm ZachXBT said has alleged ties to BitMart founder Sheldon Xia. BitMart separately began an orderly wind-down of its trading platform in July and is now exploring a potential restructuring and business resumption plan. — link

Vitalik Buterin Sees 60% Chance SNARKs, FHE and iO Reach Sub-10x Overhead Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said he believes there is a 60% chance that SNARKs, fully homomorphic encryption and indistinguishability obfuscation could eventually be implemented with single-digit computational overhead, and a 33% chance that all three could approach near-zero additional overhead for large real-world workloads. He added that at least one of the technologies, most likely SNARKs, could reach sub-10x overhead by the end of this decade, noting that specialized hash functions and some LLM inference workloads are already approaching that level. — link

Tether-Backed Chilean Crypto Exchange Orionx Shuts Down After $7M+ Asset Shortfall Chilean crypto exchange Orionx has begun a permanent shutdown after a forensic audit found that more than $7 million in customer assets had been transferred to wallets outside the company’s control. Withdrawals are suspended, and Orionx has filed criminal complaints against co-founders Roberto Zibert and Joaquín Díaz over alleged transfers of BTC, ETH, XRP and POL between 2018 and 2021; both deny wrongdoing. Chile’s financial regulator rejected Orionx’s registration application in June 2026. Tether invested in Orionx in June 2025, exclusively leading its Series A round, though the original announcement is no longer available on Tether’s website. — link

Hyperliquid AQA v2 Implies About $193M in Annualized Revenue and $527K in Daily HYPE Buyback Pressure Arete Capital Managing Partner McKenna said that as Hyperliquid’s AQA v2 wallet continues to accumulate USDC, its indicative yield and annualized revenue can now be estimated. Based on roughly $6.21 billion in USDC associated with AQA v2 and a 30-day SOFR of about 3.65%, the indicative AQA yield is estimated at around 3.10%. If roughly 90% of the revenue flows to the Assistance Fund, this would imply about $193 million in annualized revenue, or approximately $527,000 per day, potentially creating corresponding buyback pressure for HYPE. McKenna noted that the figures are estimates based on on-chain balances and interest-rate assumptions, not official disclosures from Hyperliquid. — link

Offchain Labs and Solana Co-Founders Debate Robinhood Chain Fee Model Offchain Labs co-founder Steven Goldfeder and Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko debated Robinhood Chain’s fee model. Yakovenko said the 10% revenue share paid to Arbitrum would have been enough to cover Solana transaction fees four times over, allowing Robinhood to offer users a fully gasless experience. Goldfeder called that a “ridiculous take,” saying Robinhood keeps about 90% of gas fees on Arbitrum, whereas on Solana it would retain none of the base-layer fees and would have to subsidize user fees out of pocket. “Robinhood chose Arbitrum so they could be a landlord and not a tenant,” he wrote. Yakovenko argued that Robinhood could charge users at the frontend while lowering costs by using a cheaper backend. Goldfeder replied that most of the fees are generated by activity that does not pass through Robinhood’s frontend. If Robinhood were merely a tenant on another chain, he said, it would capture none of that ancillary activity, even if it had brought those users there. — link

Highlight Clip: Arthur Hayes: AI Data Centers Might Be a "Boring Real Estate Game" Arthur Hayes: AI Data Centers Might Be a "Boring Real Estate Game" On August 22, 2026, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes said in an interview that AI is absorbing a huge amount of capital from the market, with trillions of dollars flowing into data centers and chips, diverting capital that might otherwise have flowed into crypto. He said the current AI boom resembles a “railroad bubble,” with the market potentially building too many data centers, while the capital-intensive model relies heavily on debt financing, which could become a potential risk. — link

Bitcoin-Gold Correlation Rises to Nearly Six-Year High as Nasdaq Correlation Falls to One-Year Low The Kobeissi Letter, citing Bitwise Asset Management analysis based on Bloomberg data, said Bitcoin’s 90-day rolling correlation with gold has risen to around +0.50, near its highest level since the 2020 pandemic and more than double its level at the start of the year. Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s 90-day correlation with the Nasdaq 100 has fallen to around +0.30, its lowest in a year. The Kobeissi Letter said the stronger Bitcoin-gold correlation accelerated after the U.S. Treasury announced on Aug. 19 that it would at least double its long-dated Treasury buyback limit from $2 billion to $4 billion per operation, arguing that investors are increasingly viewing both Bitcoin and gold as hedges against currency debasement. — link

CZ: YZi Labs’ Investments Made Near the Depths of the Crypto Winter Could Be Among Its Best Performers According to BeInCrypto, Binance founder CZ said he believes YZi Labs’ investments over the past few months could become some of its best performers, largely because they were made when crypto prices were near market lows. YZi Labs manages more than $10 billion in assets and serves as a family office managing wealth for CZ and Binance co-founder Yi He. Its publicly disclosed 2026 investments span robotics, AI payments, prediction markets and digital asset custody. BeInCrypto highlighted deals including YZi Labs’ $52 million lead investment in RoboForce in March, its pre-listing investment in BitGo, an additional investment in Predict.fun, an $8 million pre-seed round for AEON in May, and an August investment in fixed-rate lending protocol TermMax. CZ did not disclose actual returns on these investments, so the claim remains untested. — link

Highlight Clip: Strategy CEO: Why Sell Bitcoin at $60,000 and Buy It Back at $80,000? Strategy CEO: Why Sell Bitcoin at $60,000 and Buy It Back at $80,000? On September 2, 2026, Strategy CEO Phong Le said in an interview that the company’s previous Bitcoin sales in the $60,000 to $65,000 range were not based solely on Bitcoin’s price. Over the past two months, Strategy strengthened its balance sheet and reduced net debt to zero, making it more economically attractive to issue MSTR shares at a premium and use the proceeds to buy Bitcoin. Phong Le said both the earlier Bitcoin sale and the current Bitcoin purchases were the right strategies for their respective circumstances. — link
