Esophygeal cancer :- Risk factors > Age Male sex Barrett esophygus GERD Obesity Smoking Alcohol Tobacoo Diat > hot spicy diat Family history Achalasia Human papilloma virus Lye . Presentation :- Mainly > dysphagia of gradual onset , short duration and progresive At start dysphagia for solid Then for soild and liquides Then for saliva Then complete dysphagia Investigation :- Barium swallow show sholdering sign Endoscopy and biopsy Then staging investigation Local mets to surrounding structure Trachia : esophygeotrachial fistula > chocking and aspiration Recurrent laryngeal nerve > hoarsness of voice Sympathetic trunk > horner's syndrome Distant mets to the liver > tender hepatomegally and obstructive jaundice This why in vocus history of obstructive jaundice we ask about dysphagia Early stage > esophygectomy Late stage > paliative treatment Upper and middle third of the esophygus are squamous carcinoma Lower third is adenocarcinoma #surgery
