Patriotic Alternative Wales On Midsummer’s Eve, PA Wales went on an excursion to Monmouthshire to learn more about our heritage. A ruined 12th century priory where a handfasting was taking place, the country’s wonkiest church and a church with original medieval wall paintings and 15th century rood screen were visited first. Respects were then paid to pre-Christian sacred sites including a giant ‘growing’ stone, a renovated longbarrow and 3 menhirs in a row. The last stop on the list was a holy well and of course, you cant go anywhere in Wales without finding a castle. After that the now traditional evening meal took place in a packed pub bustling with happy people and a wonderful lack of ‘diversity’. More social events to come.
