The agency is also quietly retreating from the Integrated Risk Information System, the scientific backbone that has determined chemical toxicity for the American public for decades. Studies showing severe lung damage in animals were handed to the Fluorine Lawyers Committee and suppressed. Edward Bernays orchestrated the PR campaign to sell it through trusted doctors and dentists. Opposition from physicians documenting real harm was career suicide. Scientists faced professional destruction for revealing neurotoxic effects and manipulated cancer data. The very first suggestion that fluoride be added to public water supplies was made by a researcher, Gerald Cox, at the Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh... right at the very source of the stream you find the aluminum industry as they were tasked by the aluminum industry themselves to cover for their fluoride pollution. If water fluoridation was found to be harmful, the US bomb program, as well as many other fluoride polluting industries would have been open to massive litigation because the truth about fluoride being a harmful industrial waste product causing cancers, would have enraged citizens. Very few dentists are aware that the fluoride in public water supplies, a pharmaceutical grade product, is an industrial waste from the Phosphate industry. Immediately after water fluoridation began, there was a movement against it, led by Dr. George L Waldbott, who was also warning early on about of the dangers of emphysema from smoking. He was smeared by the media, owned by big corporations, and forgotten. In the 1990s, the Senior Toxicologist of the EPA, Dr. William Marcus, said that the results of the cancer tests that had been done on fluoride were completely manipulated. He said fluoride given to rats had produced bone cancer and liver cancer while it AGED them significantly. Dr. Marcus was fired and a federal judge ruled it was because of his outspoken opposition to fluoride. Dr. Phyllis Mullenix, from the Forsyth Dental Institute, (who was a former proponent of fluoride), had helped invent a new technology for studying the neurotoxicity of chemicals, and found with a study, to her surprise, that very modest doses of fluoride cause lower the IQ in children. Within days of learning that her study was accepted for publication, Dr. Mullenix was fired from Forsyth Dental Center and never received grants ever again to continue her research as it was all buried. She went from being an industry funded leading neuro toxicologist, at a Harvard affiliated Institute, to being ostracized and ignored. This is not science. This is a century-long corporate shield dressed in public health clothing, enforced by captured institutions and career-ending smears. The evidence was buried, the scientists silenced and the public continued to be poisoned. We were betrayed at the highest levels!
