Here we go again...a 17% drop in bpd... Based on this, we expect more naira decline versus the US dollar! Fewer barrels of oil to export will lead to fewer dollars to earn as inflow which will lead to a higher USDNGN exchange rate. Don't panic though... It will be a gradual move, not a sudden one like the jump from N360/$1 a couple of years back. If you are a net importer or your business is dollar dependent, following crude oil barrels per day production is a great way to track and forecast exchange rates.
