Xanti Schawinsky (1904-1979) Klassische Architektur III, 1927. Un grande maestro, studente del Bauhaus, poi trasferitosi in Italia come progettista pubblicitario e grafico. Qua un'opera bellissima, che sembra anticipare di 60 anni la cultura post-modernista che andava così di moda negli anni ottanta.

The Standedge Tunnel.... Britain's longest, deepest and highest canal tunnel.
Links the villages of Diggle and Marsden with a length of 5.2km
Opened is 1811 but closed to all traffic 1943 and remained that way till 2001
Three other tunnels were also dug along side but these are rail rather than canal
