1. Bibliography of bibliographies
2. Union catalogue: a catalogue listing the holdings of two or more libraries
3. Almanac: reference books usually published once in a year
Providing information about eclipse, movement of planets, rising and setting of sun moon and stars etc.
👉Secondary information sources
1. Dictionary: general language dictionary, subject dictionary, special dictionary, bilingual and multilingual dictionary
2. Encyclopedia: general and subject encyclopedia
3. Biographical sources: biographies
4. Geographical source: map, atlas, globe, gazetteers, guide books etc.
5. Bibliographies: selective list of compiled works
6. Handbook: specific information or instructions about a topic or subject.
7. Indexing and abstracting periodical: listed relevant item with full bibliographic details selected from primary sources.
8. Mannual: provides step by step instructions
👉 Primary information sources
1. Periodical: Scholarly journal, trade journal, popular & general interest periodical
2. Confrence proceedings: paper from confrences organaise by learned society or association
3. Patents: exclusive rights granted from government.
4. Standards: rules or guidelines to achieve order in a given context
5. Thesis/ dessertation: submitted in support of an academic research etc.
6. Trade literature/ product bulletin: information products brought out by the publisher, manufacturers, distributers of various types of materials products and services.
👉Criteria for evaluation of Reference sources
1. Past records: Regular/ Irregular, detailed information etc.
2. Authority: Qualification/ reputational/ experience/ author, editor/compiler, publisher etc.
3. Scope: subject, geometrical area, time span, forms of documents, target users etc.
4. Treatment: thoroughness, completeness, bias, reliability,style, illustration etc.
5. Arrangement: letter by letter, word by word etc.
6. Special features: directories of college and university/ regular, irregular/not updated etc.
7. Format: binding, paper quality, font, pages made up etc
8. Book review: magazine, newspaper etc
9. Limitations: cover all subject/ only for science students etc
10. Conclusion: point by point or in paragraphs/ detailed speciality etc.
