If someone asks you how you became a Christian and your answer is, "I was raised in a Christian home," you should really examine yourself to see if you're truly saved. Saving faith only comes when you genuinely realize you're a sinner who can only be saved by Jesus Christ.

“Let your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your promise; then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word.” Psalm 119:41–42 Love to me. Trust to God. Answer to adversary.

Is God quick to condemn? Let's open Acts 7:1–53 to show that the God who is slow to anger also warns against presuming on His patience.

June 14 - Don’t Worry about Tomorrow #LifeOfChrist “‘So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own’” (Matthew 6:34). Making reasonable provisions for the future is sensible, but to “worry about tomorrow” is foolish and unfaithful. God is the God of tomorrow as well as the God of today and eternity. “The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lam. 3:22–23). People are so committed to worrying that, if they can’t find anything in the present to worry about, they think about possible problems in the future. So Jesus assures us, “Tomorrow will care for itself.” This is not the careless philosophy of the hedonist who lives only for his present enjoyment. It is the conviction of the child of God who knows tomorrow will care for itself because it is in his heavenly Father’s hands. “Each day has enough trouble of its own” is not a call to worry about that trouble—it’s an invitation to concentrate on meeting the temptations, trials, opportunities, and struggles we have today, relying on our Father to protect and provide as we have need. There is enough trouble in each day without adding the distress of worry to it. God promises His grace for tomorrow and for every day thereafter and through eternity. But He does not give us grace for tomorrow now—He gives His grace only a day at a time as it is needed, not as it may be anticipated. So begin today to focus on the issues of today. Don’t start dwelling on tomorrow until it becomes today. Ask Yourself What else might Jesus have in mind by commanding us to maintain our full attention on the day, the hour, the moment we’re currently living in? What do we lose by living in either the past or the future?

June 14: Remembering #Devotional 2 Chronicles 33:1–34:33; 1 John 2:18–27; Psalm 105:1–22 My mom discovered scrapbooking when I was a teenager. At first, the craft seemed time consuming and burdensome; paper scraps, pictures, and double-sided tape were constantly strewn over the kitchen table. But as the books came together, I began to appreciate her new hobby. A random photo would inspire a conversation about an event I had no memory of. The way she pieced the book together showed me a timeline of my parents’ sacrifice for my siblings and me. I had a deeper respect and a renewed sense of gratitude toward them. Psalm 105 reads like a record of God’s faithfulness to Israel—a scrapbook of His work in their lives. To help them remember, the psalmist details each memory, beginning with the great patriarchs with whom God initiated and renewed His covenant—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God didn’t choose these men because of their spotless lives. He was true to Israel, protecting, guiding, and reprimanding them when they were unfaithful and forgetful. Although the psalmist is remembering God’s work and encouraging others to do the same, he ultimately shows that God’s act of remembering should ignite our praise. “He remembers His covenant forever, the word that he commanded for a thousand generations” (Psa 105:8). We are wayward children who don’t deserve God’s love. We are forgetful and ungrateful, which often means we don’t praise Him like we should. Despite this, God has remained faithful—even reconciling us to Himself through the work of His Son. We shouldn’t live in ignorance of His faithfulness. Knowing that He’ll “remember his wonders that he has done” (Psa 105:5), we can live lives of thankfulness and praise. How do you praise God for His faithfulness to you?

You can’t be tree-like if you’re not meditating on the Psalms day and night. Merely sipping at God’s word will result in chaff-like results: a strong wind will blow you away.

"Sermons should be text driven and every text should be preached in the light of the gospel. And if the gospel is preached, then an opportunity to respond to the gospel should be given." - Shane Pruitt

Believers, we must stop compromising with the sins of this world. We are called to be set apart and holy for his glory.

On the cross, Christ bore the wrath we deserved. God’s justice was satisfied, and forgiveness was secured (2 Cor. 5:21). Without His substitution, I am lost.

If your "Christian faith" doesn't change how you live, then it isn't saving faith. A heart changed by the gospel will always produce good fruit.
