BREAKING: Chevron, $CVX, Haliburton, $HAL, and other major US oil companies are nearing deals to invest “billions of dollars” in Venezuela’s oil fields, per WSJ.
This comes amid reports that the US is negotiating a deal to take a large stake in Venezuelan oil fields.
VENEZUELA OIL DEAL — INDIA BENEFICIARIES
Venezuela has the world's largest proven oil reserves (~303 bn barrels), but production is only ~1.2 mbpd after years of underinvestment.
If the US-led push actually revives Venezuelan production, watch these Indian companies:
🥇 ONGC - Existing Venezuelan assets + San Cristobal revival + potential new upstream opportunities.
🥇 Reliance - Jamnagar is ideally suited to process heavy Venezuelan crude; potentially a major beneficiary of increased discounted crude supply.
⭐ Fineotex - Its newly acquired US subsidiary, CrudeChem, is an oilfield-specialty-chemicals business. More drilling = more demand for production chemicals, flow assurance, water treatment & well chemicals.
⭐ Welspun Corp - Major global line-pipe player with US manufacturing. A Venezuelan production revival could eventually mean massive pipeline/infrastructure requirements.
Oil India / IOC / MRPL - Existing Venezuelan exposure and/or heavy-crude processing capabilities.
L&T / Engineers India / BHEL / Thermax - Potential second-order EPC/infrastructure beneficiaries.
The real opportunity isn't discovering Venezuelan oil.
It's unlocking the world's largest proven oil reserve base that has been severely underdeveloped.
