Causing Dissension Between People Is Similar To Magic Ibn Muflih, may Allaah have mercy upon him: "Abul-Khattaab ['Uyuun Al-Masaail], said, 'carrying tales and causing dissension between people is a type of magic.' These words can be understood when one realises that, by doing this, a person surreptitiously wants to cause harm by his words and acts, and as such it resembles magic. This is why we have seen in practice that tale carrying causes the same sort of results as magic does, sometimes even worse."
