The Ghana TVET Service wishes to inform all applicants who applied for the 2026 recruitment exercise that the status of their applications will be available from 8:00 PM on Tuesday, 21st July 2026. Applicants who applied online should log into the recruitment portal using the same credentials used during the application process to check their status. Those who applied in person will receive text message notifications indicating their application status, sent from Tuesday, 21st July 2026 (8:00 PM) to Friday, 24th July 2026.

Highlights of the Minister of Education's Government Accountability Series Press Conference 1. Announced a GH¢3 billion education infrastructure programme approved by Cabinet to support the elimination of the double-track system through expanded secondary school infrastructure. 2. Indicated that the double-track system is expected to be phased out by 2029, following the completion of major infrastructure projects. 3. Announced plans to construct 10 new Senior High and Technical Schools and rehabilitate and retool 150 existing schools with support from a US$300 million World Bank facility. 4. Reaffirmed government's commitment to improving the quality of Free SHS, with greater emphasis on infrastructure, teaching and learning resources, and student welfare. 5. Announced the recruitment of 16,000 additional teachers, with priority deployment to underserved and deprived communities. Proposed the introduction of a 20% rural posting allowance to improve teacher retention in hard-to-staff areas. 6. Unveiled the Teacher Dabrɛ Initiative, under which government plans to facilitate the construction of 50,000 housing units for teachers nationwide. 7. Highlighted ongoing curriculum reforms aimed at strengthening literacy, numeracy, STEM, digital literacy, coding, robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), ethics and critical thinking. 8. Reported the nationwide distribution of 12.2 million sanitary pads to approximately 2.5 million female students to improve girls' participation and retention in school. 9. Announced GH¢100 million in GETFund support to provide free education and related assistance for learners with special educational needs. 10. Reaffirmed government's commitment to strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to improve employability and support national industrialisation. 11. Announced reforms in professional education, including expanded legal education opportunities and consideration of similar reforms in medical education. 12. Emphasised the need to strengthen governance and accountability across education institutions through improved monitoring and institutional oversight. 13. Announced plans to review the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) to improve transparency and fairness in SHS placements. 14. Raised concerns about increasing student indiscipline and announced a national stakeholders' conference to develop long-term solutions, alongside a review of the disciplinary regime in secondary schools. 15. Reiterated government's commitment to expanding inclusive, equitable and quality education while improving infrastructure, teacher welfare, learning outcomes and access across all levels of education. Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced plans by the government to construct 50,000 housing units for teachers across the country as part of efforts to improve accommodation conditions and encourage teacher retention, particularly in rural communities. 😂

First, it wants to create an Independent Emoluments Commission (IEC). This body will be responsible for setting public sector salaries in a transparent and fair way, using facts and data instead of inconsistent negotiations. Second, the government will carry out a National Job Evaluation Exercise. This means every public sector job, such as teachers, nurses, doctors, police officers, and others, will be carefully assessed based on factors like: How much responsibility the job carries. How difficult or complex it is. The level of accountability. The skills and qualifications required. The working conditions. After this assessment, the government hopes to correct unfair pay differences so that people doing jobs of similar value receive fair compensation. The FWSC believes that when public sector workers are paid fairly, they will be more motivated, leading to better services.

The 39-year-old teacher who allegedly assaulted a student at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region was, on Friday, June 10, 2026, re-arraigned before the Nyinahin District Court and granted bail of GHC80,000 with three sureties. This is the second time the case has come before the court since the incident came to public attention. The accused was initially discharged afterthe case was withdrawn, but the case was revived after a group challenged the decision following the circulation of rumours (Case was thrownout), which the court described as misinformation. The court subsequently warned the public against spreading any further misinformation about the case while it is still before the court. As part of the bail conditions, the accused is required to report to the police every two weeks on Mondays.
