HiSilicon DVR hack This report discloses serious vulnerabilities (with proof of concept (PoC) code) of DVR/NVR devices built using the HiSilicon hi3520d and similar system on a chip (SoC). Exploiting the vulnerabilities lead to unauthorized remote code execution (RCE) using only the web interface, causing full takeover of the exploited device. Due to lack of upgraded firmwares, using these devices is not recommended. Contacted the vendor before Dec 2016, but still no response. The release date of the disclosure is Feb 2017. https://github.com/tothi/pwn-hisilicon-dvr

AMSI_patch Patching AmsiOpenSession by forcing an error branching. Inside AmsiOpenSession, there is a TEST instruction that sets the zero flag (ZF) , when the result of the AND operation is zero, and if the zero flag is 1 it will take the error branch because of the JZ instruction that will jump if ZF is 1, but if everything is ok the error branching will never took , so what about forcing it by patching JZ to JNZ. https://github.com/TheD1rkMtr/AMSI_patch

Throwing Star LAN Tap The Throwing Star LAN Tap is a passive Ethernet tap, requiring no power for operation. There are active methods of tapping Ethernet connections (e.g., a mirror port on a switch), but none can beat passive taps for portability. → Use Ethernet cables to connect the Throwing Star LAN Tap (J1 and J2) in line with a target network to be monitored. → Use Ethernet cables to connect one or both of the monitoring ports (J3 and J4) to ports on one or two monitoring stations. Each port monitors traffic in one direction only. → Use your favorite software (e.g., tcpdump or Wireshark) on the monitoring station(s) to capture network traffic.
