+3Decompressive maneuvers are usually done to shrink large ameloblastomas with cystic components. However, in many cases, failures occur. They consistently occur due to the misinterpretation of unilocular lesions as a unicystic lesion and the belief that the cystic areas are the single component of the entire lesion. In today's case, a failure of the decompressive approach was presented in a presumably unicystic lesion, but in fact with large solid or classic areas.

Palatine torus is a bony growth normally present in the midline of the hard palate. Its dimension may vary throughout life. Often, due to the trauma, lesions may appear on the epithelium such as ulcers, white plaques or reddish spots. +1Osteoma in the maxilla is not very common. This occurred in a 60-year-old woman and the painful ulceration was worrisome for the patient. Biopsy showed viable lamellar bone consistent with osteoma. Palatal lesions in elderly patients should be examined and biopsied. More aggressive lesions can expand superiorly into the maxillary sinus and, once there, become much more difficult to manage.

+4Case of pemphigus vulgaris. The oral cavity is the most common site of mucosal lesions and often represents the initial site of the disease. Mucous membranes in other locations are also often affected, including the conjunctiva, nose, esophagus, vulva, vagina, cervix, and anus.
The formation of intraepidermal blisters seen in pemphigus is due to an immune response that results in the deposition of autoantibodies against cell surface antigens within the epithelium of mucous membranes or skin. The mechanism by which acantholysis occurs is not fully understood.

An interesting example in the photo are Paramedian Pits on the Lower Lip. Occurs in Van der Wood's Syndrome, a rather rare condition inherited as Autosomal Dominant Trait, associated with Cleft Lip and/or Palate.
The clinical picture can vary from very small depressions to noticeable pits. Sometimes the depth can reach 1.5 cm and the duct of a Minor Salivary Gland Opens there.
Occasionally, a Single Pit may be present Centrally or Laterally to the Midline.
Surgical Treatment consists of the removal of the Pits and also of the adjacent Minor Salivary Glands to prevent the formation of Mucocele.

“Close-tray impression technique” for dental implants.
● CLOSED TRAY TECH.-After making the impression, the impression copping is unscrewed from the mouth and fitted with implant analogue & then placed in the impression.
● OPEN TRAY TECH.-Impression is made with an open tray (hole on top), then the impression coping is unscrewed through this hole and the impression removed from mouth (copings are still in the impression), then implant analogue is attached.
● Open-tray may be used for divergent implants.
