Ethiopia may experience rainfall deficits in some areas while flood risks increase elsewhere, particularly with the expected October–December rainfall. - #Drought: northern, western and central part of the country - #Flood: Eastern / southeastern part of the country

Ethiopia Meher Season Crop Yields Likely to be Below Normal ------ Meher season crop yields are likely to be below normal, with deficits of over 20%, in eastern Amhara and Tigray

EI Nino and Ethiopia ------- El Niño is expected to pose a high risk to food security and livelihoods in Ethiopia, particularly through below-average and erratic rainfall, while increasing the risk of flooding in parts of the eastern part of Ethiopia. Current conditions show significant crop moisture stress in #Amhara and #Tigray, delayed planting in #Sidama, #CentralEthiopia, and #SouthEthiopia, and worsening pasture and water shortages in #Afar. Below-average meher production is therefore anticipated, with major shortfalls expected in northeastern Amhara, Tigray, and the Hararghe lowlands. Early monitoring, anticipatory action, and targeted humanitarian preparedness will be critical.
