The Battle of Nördlingen (1634)

The Battle of Nördlingen, fought over two days from 5 September to 6 September 1634, was a major battle of the Thirty Years' War. A Imperial-Spanish force led by the Cardinal-Infante Ferdinand and Ferdinand of Hungary inflicted a crushing defeat on the Swedish-German army led by Gustav Horn and Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar.
Nördlingen effectively destroyed Swedish power in southern Germany, and has been described by some commentators as "arguably the most important battle of the war".

He had close contacts to SS veterans, through whom he was able to access private archives, and wrote biographies of commanders and award recipients of the SS and of SS units. Historians of World War II have described Yerger's work as uncritical, hagiographic and whitewashing towards the SS.

Expeditions are accelerating the melting of the ice
The heat from burned fuels and even human urine is enough to melt around 2500 tons of ice and snow every year, reports the British newspaper „The Independent“, citing the trade journal „Regional Environmental Change“.
Satellite data also indicate increased warming in the vicinity of the base camp. Analysis of Landsat images from 1991 to 2023 revealed that surface temperatures in the camp increased by an average of 0.28 degrees Celsius per year. This means the area has warmed up about twice as fast as the surrounding Khumbu Glacier.

Matthias Klostermayr (* September 3, or September 13, 1736 in Kissing; † September 6, 1771 in Dillingen an der Donau) was a poacher and leader of a "righteous band of robbers" in what was then the Swabian-Bavarian border region, Germany.
After his poaching companion "Sternputz" was killed by a hunter, Klostermayr and his gang of up to 30 people also attacked government offices and other public institutions. He extorted tax money from the district administrator in Täfertingen, which he then distributed among the population. Klostermayr was arrested on January 14, 1771 by a military troop of the Swabian Circle under First Lieutenant Josef Schedel in the Gasthof Post in Osterzell after a firefight and later executed spectacularly in Dillingen an der Donau: strangled, then smashed to pieces, beheaded and quartered.

“In mid-August 1939 alone, 75,535 ethnic Germans had fled to the Reich. In total, ethnic Germans suffered around 20,000 deaths shortly before and after the start of the war, of which 12,500 could be identified by name. Thus, in November 1939, the number of deaths had been provisionally determined to be 5,437, not 4,850. The first document published by the Foreign Office on this subject, 'The Polish atrocities against ethnic Germans in Poland', Berlin 1940, gives these 5,437 deaths as a preliminary finding. The second edition - Berlin 1940 - gives the figure as 12,857 deaths up to February 1, 1940, to which 45,000 missing persons were added. Only the latter figure is propaganda, whereas the number of 12,857 deaths is clearly documented and these 12,857 have been identified. According to findings by the then 'Posen Graves' Centre' under the direction of Pastor Lic. Berger and Ing. Hans Schmidt, the latter figure has risen to over 15,000 deaths. During Bloody Sunday in Bromberg alone, ethnic Germans suffered around 6,000 deaths, of which 5,437 were identified by name. However, cleverly separating the Bromberg Bloody Sunday from the overall complex of the 20 years of Polish terror and carefully ignoring everything else from those 20 years has nothing to do with an objective analysis. Because anyone who really knows the situation in Versailles Poland knows that - starting with the bloody murderous terror of the Korfanty gangs in Upper Silesia - with the border protection battles in Posen and West Prussia, with the establishment of the first Polish concentration camp in Szczypiorno after 1918, and the brutal expulsions of over a million Germans, the number of victims could be calculated that would far exceed the supposed number of 58,000."
