Abū Qatāda al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه reported the Messenger ﷺ was asked about the observance of fasting on the day of ʿArafah. He ﷺ said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the coming year.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1162b]

🥹 A beautiful moment captured when a pilgrim spotted a security guard in Makkah performing salah, so he held an umbrella above him to provide shade. May Allāh grant him shade on the day of Qiyamah.

On Day of ʿArafah the sun will culminate at the zentih of the Kaʿbah. Many outlets report that this ‘rare event’ happens every 33 years, however this is misleading. This phenomenon happens twice a year, and just so happens that this year it will also happen on the Day of ʿArafah. This event, is not tied to any religious observance, nor does it have any significance to the Day of ʿArafah.

💫 Sayyid al-Istighfār: The Best Prayer for Seeking Forgiveness Narrated Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allāh is: اللهم أنت ربي، لا إله إلا أنت ، خلقتني وأنا عبدك، وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي، فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6306] Transliteration: Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā ant, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduk, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā’istaṭaʿt, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt, abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayy, wa-abūʾu laka bidhanbī, fa’ighfir lī, fa-innahu lā yaghfir al-dhunūba illā ant. Translation: O Allāh, You are my Lord, there is no God but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise (to honour it) as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins but You.

🚨 Three people have been killed after a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Two staff members were killed and a security guard. The security guard Amin Abdullah put his life on the line and saved many other potential victims at the mosque. The mosque includes a day care full of children, all of whom were evacuated safely. Two suspects, aged 17 and 19 died from self inflicted gunshot wounds. No motive is yet to be known.

🚨 Reports of an active shooter at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Aerial footage showed a person lying in pool of blood following shooting at the Islamic Center as police respond to the scene.
