Challenge #10

But also, how much time did we spend abiding? In worship? How many people did we pray for? How fast did we obey and do the hard thing that we were tempted to put off? How many hugs did we give our kids? Did we increase our eye contact with them, and decrease our eye contact with screens? We need to rethink how we measure success at the end of the day. 🤍

I have the last high school event for the year coming up. There will be an ice cream bar for dessert. I am currently looking up ideas when I came across this. Whoops!! I keep forgetting to share this *sheepish grin* It's not too late to check some memory making activities off!

I am still working on creating YT videos for the 30 Day Prayer Challenge. Monday, while taking a break to hang with the younger ones outside, we spotted a teeny-tiny miniature pumpkin slowly moving across the driveway. Imagine our surprise when we realize it was the world’s happiest spider! Seriously; these orange, marbled orb weavers* have the friendliest faces. *Cool name for a superhero What are y'all up to instead of twiddling your thumbs?! 🙂

Well, we’re certainly not sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting on whatever might happen. We are out there having fun, creating memories, and enjoying God’s gorgeous creation! Recently I took my oldest twin to a Japanese festival at the botanic gardens. She loves the culture and she’d like to create a manga comic book style series. We support her because God has blessed her with the gift of drawing and she’d like to bring a godly perspective to the genre. Me, the goofy all-American gal, tried khao mungai (steamed chicken with ginger rice and ginger soy sauce) and a Thai iced coffee (why not?!). Delicious! If y’all find yourselves in the Memphis area and craving some Thai food, check out the Soi No. 9 Thai Street Food truck. (Side note, Taco Cat is pretty awesome. Also, see me for some BBQ tips) We sat for a local artist’s manga class then later had some one-on-one mentorship. Oh, the traditional Japanese tea ceremony was lovely! After strolling through some gardens I told her we *had* to go watch the Memphis Kendo and Iaido Club sword demonstration. They totally rocked! She sat down to learn how to make an origami crane. It looked pretty lopsided when she was done, but I know if I tried my hand at it I would have made some sort of medieval-looking earthworm. We both got some nifty merchandise and chatted with a family we haven’t see in awhile. Shortly before leaving the festival we watched an Elvis impersonator. It was fabulous! Had a delightful time with my firstborn 😊
