What is a Pneumatic Tube Transport System?
The history of pneumatic tube systems can be traced back to the 1850s. The first operating system was built by engineer Josiah Latimer Clark and went into operation at the London Telegraph Office in 1853. Shorter paths for rapid transport were created: Letters, telegrams and even parcels were put in cylindrical containers and sent through the tubes. Colored markings served as identification for the various shipments.
Particularly for the stock market, it was an important and, above all, fast method of communication at that time: if messages were not delivered in a timely manner, speculators ran the risk of losing a fortune. More and more pneumatic tube systems were also used in retail trade, banks, and the chemical and automotive industries – mostly to transmit production samples to laboratories. High quality was ensured.
In the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, the air system became established in other cities besides London. Mail was sent by the Prague tube network until 2002 – the longest time an air system was used for mail deliveries. However, transport through the underground became increasingly difficult over the years. More and more disruptions occurred, individual tube sections shifted underground and maintenance work became more complicated.
The concept of a pneumatic tube system has not changed since its development many years ago: each system is powered by air.
For carriers that need to be transported several floors upwards, compressed air is required. To transport pneumatic tube carriers to a lower floor, it is sucked in by the help of air. Horizontal transport works with both compressed air and by suction depending on the system. The pneumatic tube software is used to transmit information about the level where individual pneumatic tube stations are located as well as where to transport the individual carriers.
Most installations that operate with an air compressor use air diverters. These are usually located above the compressor and regulate whether the carrier in a pneumatic tube system is conveyed by compressed air or by suction. The air switches are thus responsible for the air compressor to change from pressure to suction and vice versa.
Several switches in the individual transport pipes ensure that the correct station is addressed. As soon as a carrier is routed to another branch of the tube, the information is transmitted via the pneumatic tube software. Frequency converters on the blower are used to prevent containers from being transported too fast. They slow down the journeys within the pneumatic tube network, preventing the carrier and its contents from being damaged.

How do Night Vision Goggles work?
Most night vision devices rely on an image intensifier tube, which uses ambient low-light processes as a sort of jumpstart for a process that creates tens of thousands of photons for each original photon. While these devices may use infrared light, they are by no means reliant on them.
The first component of an image intensifier tube is a photocathode, a very thin layer of conductive metal that, when struck by a photon, releases electrons due to the photoelectric effect.
This layer of metal is generally coated with a thin film of protective material, perhaps aluminum oxide, to prevent large positive ions from poisoning the photocathode. This film lowers the efficiency of the photocathode but increases its lifetime tremendously.
These electrons travel through the tube (which is a vacuum), accelerating under the influence of a strong electric field. This acceleration is important for inducing secondary electron emission in the next component of the image intensifier tube, the micro-channel plate detector.
The micro-channel plate detector, true to its name, is a plate with very small holes in it.
These channels are tiny, about 10 micrometers in diameter. Naturally, a single plate contains thousands of these channels. When an electron enters the plate, it bombards the sides of the channel (unless it entered almost perfectly parallel to the channel). If the electron strikes the side with enough energy, it induces the release of more electrons.
These micro-channels have the added benefit of keeping the electrons in the same general position from when they went in, reducing fuzziness. If the electrons were allowed to fly around willy-nilly, the end result would be akin to white noise on a television set.
For each micro-channel, every electron bounce with sufficient energy releases more electrons as they travel down the tube, resulting in a final wave of electrons three to four orders of magnitude larger than the original. This swarm of electrons makes its way to the final component of the image intensifier tube, the phosphor screen.
The phosphor screen is made of a material which releases photons when struck by electrons.
Photons hit a photocathode, which releases electrons. These electrons are multiplied by a micro-channel plate detector. The multiplied electrons hit a phosphor screen, which releases photons that you can see.

Expectation is the cause of disappointment because when you expect and don’t receive, disappointment arises. And this is why gratitude is so powerful. You are telling yourself that you have received something worthy of being thankful for, despite what was expected.

What is Theodolite Device? How does it helps Civil Engineers?
The Theodolite is a precision optical instrument that is used for surveying large spaces and objects in the field. It primarily consists of a movable telescope, mounted on a n adjustable tripod capable of precise measurements at both horizontal and vertical angles.
The telescope can be rotated up to 180 degrees. There are two types of Theodolite - Transit and Non Transit. In Transit Theodolites the line of sight of the telescope can be reversed through the rotation of the telescope by 180 degrees about the Trunnion axis (The trunnion axis is the axis about which the telescope transits) in vertical plane.
If the telescope of a theodolite cannot be revolved around the Trunnion axis, it is called as a non-transit theodolite. The non-transit theodolite are the predecessors and are not used anymore in surveying.
Apart from function, theodolites can be classified as digital and analog theodolite. There are two kinds of analog theodolite - Repeating and Directional. The repeating theodolite is used to take multiple measurements on a graduated scale, while the directional theodolites take measurements through a set circle.
Digital theodolites are the modern version of these devices, where they eliminate the need of scales and electronically display the readings, some advanced theodolites are also equipped with a laser distance measurement device for higher accuracy.
