Interns will be meaningfully engaged in special education or inclusive workplace settings, while contributing to the learning, development, and well-being of students or clients in a supportive and inclusive environment. As a YFA Intern, you will be deployed to one of the following departments based on your interest, strengths, and organizational needs: - Teaching Track (Primary, Secondary, or Vocational Track) - Digital Academy - Early Intervention Programme (EIP) - Employability and Employment Centre (E2C) Your Impact and Contribution: - Support teachers or job coaches in delivering daily learning and engagement activities for students or clients with autism. - Assist in managing routines and ensuring a structured, safe, and supportive environment, whether in the classroom or workplace. - Provide one-on-one or small group support to students or clients, based on their individual needs. - Help with the preparation of teaching, training, or vocational materials and resources. - Participate in student care activities, such as mealtimes, transitions, and outdoor learning. - Collaborate with teachers and other team members to support the holistic development of students. - Support school-wide or centre-wide events and initiatives (e.g., learning journeys, career fairs, or social activities). Learning Outcomes: - Develop greater awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). - Learn strategies to engage and support the learning and behaviour of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). - Gain insight into the roles within special education and inclusive workplace settings. - Build soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and empathy in a real-world environment. Requirements: - Passion for working with children or youths with special needs. - Patient, responsible, and willing to learn. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Able to commit to full duration of the internship. - No prior experience required – training will be provided.
