"When we are dispersed & we interact with other human beings only online, and the algorithms feed back our own preferences and desires to us, what it effectively does is isolate us in these multiple sub-caves," says Jacob Howland, Provost of the University of Austin.
"After communism fell, it's as if the historical amnesia had removed the capacity of those who were still around to reckon with the past."

"One of the most memory-holed stories of 2023 was that the CEOs of all of these companies, Sam Altman, Demis Hassabis, Dario Amodei, signed this statement saying [AI superintelligence] could cause human extinction; let's be careful. They said it.
It's kind of like if Oppenheimer and Einstein had written a letter warning that nuclear weapons could kill people and then everybody just sort of forgot about it.
…This future is no longer decades away.
…The painful truth that's really beginning to sink in, is that we're much closer to figuring out how to build this stuff than we are to figuring out how to control it.”
- MIT professor Max Tegmark, author of “Life 3.0”

🚨MIT professor Max Tegmark warns that AI superintelligence would be an existential threat to humanity. He says we're creating an "alien species" to replace us:
“People who don't see this make the mistake of thinking of AI as just another technology like the steam engine or the internet, whereas Turing himself was clearly thinking about it as a new species.
…Imagine in the not-distant future: We have robots that can just out-think us in every way, and out-plan us, and out-strategize us. Of course, they can also build robot factories and build new robots…
Before that point, we have to ask ourselves: is that really what we want to do?"

"The painful truth that's really beginning to sink in is that we're much closer to figuring out how to build this stuff than we are figuring out how to control it."
The push to build AI superintelligence is deeply alarming, says MIT professor Max Tegmark.
"My laptop runs about 1 billion times faster than my brain…Once machines start improving themselves, they can get as much smarter than us…as we are smarter than snails. And if you had the idea that some snails were going to control us—or they were going to build us, and then control us—you should laugh at this.
So what I describe now is what's known as superintelligence, which is what probably will come not long after artificial general intelligence. And this is exactly what Alan Turing warned about."
"Are we going to just throw away the keys to the planet by building some alien, amoral machine species that just replaces us?"

🚨“The Chinese, who manufacture virtually all of our solar panels…have been installing cellular radios inside the inverters, which can act as kill switches," says Michael Shellenberger, author of “Apocalypse Never.”
"There was actually a Chinese solar company that turned off the solar panels and sent up a little message to its users, saying: we've turned this off because these solar panels are only authorized to be used in certain countries.
…So we know that the Chinese solar companies, all of which essentially can be used as arms of the Chinese military. … They are able to to switch off large amounts of solar, and if you are able to do that, then you are able to cause the de-powering and blackouts of the grid.
How big of a problem is this?
…I think most national security experts view this as something that the Chinese could do if there was, for example, an invasion of Taiwan, and the United States decided to defend Taiwan.
The Chinese could potentially trigger blackouts in the United States and Europe.
As crazy as that sounds, that is the reality."

"Energy is the lifeblood of the entire economy. So a nation that is energy rich is a rich nation.
There is no poor nation that's energy rich, and there's no energy rich nation that's poor."
Trump is transforming America's energy future, says Michael Shellenberger, author of “Apocalypse Never.” On May 23, Trump signed four executive orders seeking to quadruple US nuclear energy capacity by 2050.

Here’s a simple action that could DRAMATICALLY improve scientific integrity, says Dr. Lynn Fynn:
"The data uploaded in the system and the IND, which is the investigational new drug application - if all of that was blinded as to what company or who did it, and just the data is uploaded, and it has to be looked at objectively by the team, it could change a lot of things.
It could change the speed of an approval. It could change the approval itself. It could take something that really has promise from a nobody and bring it to the forefront.
To me, that's pure innovation. That's unbiased innovation. There's no name behind it. You don't know whether there are billions of dollars behind it or if it's a rag-tag group of five scientists that left pharma and formed their own group.
You know nothing about it. You have an electronic file with all of the data there, and you have no idea where it came from, but it's following the regulatory process and the review period." - Dr. Lynn Fynn
https://ept.ms/S0529LynnFynn
"A good example would be an Alzheimer's drug that was approved…I looked at all of the data, and it did not show benefit whatsoever. But it was approved, and it was approved mainly because the behemoth behind it was the one pushing it through, not the scientists at the university.
And they ended up taking it off the market because they couldn't show post-marketing benefits, and only adverse events. But these sorts of things happen regularly.
Our government is another component of that because, with the example of Moderna, they partnered with the NIH. So, what a lot of people don't know is the revenue with the mRNA vaccines for COVID is split in a way that 40% of it goes to the NIH.
Now, does the taxpayer get any of that? No, the NIH does. The other 60% goes to Moderna so they can develop another version of it." - Dr. Lynn Fynn

"When a certain group decides what can be published and what cannot be published, at what point does it become 'pal review' instead of peer review? Are they looking into the study? Are they on the bench trying to reproduce part of it? Are they doing any checks and balances?" - Dr. Lynn Fynn

At least one million Jews were sent to Auschwitz.
Sharaka is an organization bringing Jews, Muslims, Israelis, and Arabs together in Poland to learn about the Holocaust
"It was pouring rain - the hardest rain that I've been outside in, in a very long time, which was sort of fitting...It grounded me in where I was and in the history.
And thinking about how there were Jewish slaves there, working out in that kind of rain, in threadbare pajamas, starving to death, & having to do physical labor & be shot if they didn't keep up...
And meanwhile, I'm freezing in the cold, but I get to go on a warm bus and get a hot meal after this."

"[I was] at a Shabbat dinner with 20 Muslims, a handful of Jews, and then the people from the Jewish Community Center. So, we had some Polish people there, we had a Ukrainian refugee who works there, a couple more Americans - just a real coming together of all - also some Israelis and some Iraqi Jews.
It was a really cool melting pot. And the joy that erupted there - we broke into song and dance a number of times, both in Arabic and in Hebrew. And it was just an amazing expression of brotherhood and joy and togetherness there. So, that was a really beautiful way to end the trip."
Jonah Platt, actor, director, singer and host of the "Being Jewish" podcast, shares his recent experiences on a Sharaka trip to Germany and Poland. The program seeks to educate people in the Middle East and beyond about the Holocaust.

“Hollywood is about as left and progressive a community as there is in this country.
And unfortunately, part of the box you have to check in that very left, super progressive space is being anti-Israel and being pro-Palestine in an anti-Israel way."

Gary Sinise: "The Lt. Dan band was born in 2003/2004 when I just started doing USO tours, and I wanted to go out there and entertain the troops like Kid Rock was doing.
… I wanted to entertain. So that's where the band came from. I had musicians I played with. I liked to play bass. I put a variety, a show together of all kinds of music that they would appreciate and enjoy. I pay the band. I do it for free. It's part of just my mission, you know.
And now the band has done almost 600 concerts over the last 20 years or so on military bases all over the country and overseas. And it's all free concerts for people. Occasionally, we've played in some clubs and that kind of thing, but mostly it's military."
Over the years, he has visited over 180 military bases.

"Mac was an incredible guy. … He was very disabled by this awful, rare cancer that took his life, called chordoma.
…During this period of time when he was fighting cancer, the cancer was so difficult to deal with that he just didn't think about music that much—until 2023. And he said to me that there was a piece of music he had been thinking about that he wrote in college but never finished. And he wanted to try to finish it.
And so he teamed up with two of my band members to help him work on it. And then out of the blue, a buddy of his from college, a composer pal, contacted him and came to see him, and they started talking about music … And by July 17, they were in the studio recording this beautiful, amazing piece called 'Arctic Circles' that led to an entire album's worth of music that he finished by the end of the year. And he designed the album cover. The album is called Resurrection & Revival.
He wanted to make some vinyls to give to people, vinyl records. And he Dad, if we ever sell any, the money could go to the foundation.
He never saw the record. He never got to hold it, because it went to press the week that he died.
But he finished it, and he got to hear it all." - Gary Sinise

"I have always been in awe of the American families who come to visit the Vietnam [Veterans] Memorial in Washington, DC. That Memorial created a pilgrimage of multiple generations.
The Vietnam War ended many years ago, and yet, the American families come to visit the fallen, from the first one to the last one.
…If you have a small Chinese immigrant family that lives in Chilliwack, British Columbia, and the school trip brings them here, they can find their own family. They can replicate the same experience.
That child can come back to the community and say, look, this is the name of my grandfather. He came here and he gave us prosperity and safety and a really good life in Canada because he didn't want to be oppressed in mainland China."
