Ideas:Government coming up with Vision India 2047 document to make India a developed nation by 2047 and ensure country not slips into middle income trap like others. Aims to make India a $30 trillion economy by 2047 with per capita income of $18000-20000.Argentina fell into middle income trap. Regional disparities need to be addressed like East and North getting left behind and the West and the South pushing ahead. While India's share in global GDP has tripled from 1.1% in 1991 to 3.5% in 2023 but none of thr world's largest banks, contractors, legal, consultancy are form India said Niti Aayog CEO, BVR Subrahmanyam. He further added that there is a huge demand for our nurses in the world but half our colleges are not accepted on the other side.So some States are sending nurses in huge numbers and some are not. Data:World Inequality Lab published "Income and Wealth in India, 1922-2023:The Rise of the Billionaire Raj" by Nitin Kumar Bharti, Lucas Chancel, Thomas Piketty and others. In 2022-23, 22.6%India's national income went to top 1%, highest in 100 years. Top 0.1% earned 10% of national income. Wealth Inequality:Top 1% have 40% in 2022-23, highest since 1961.It increased for top 10% from 45% in 1961 to 65% in 2022-23. About top 10000 Indians own 17000 times  wealth of average Indian. "Rich got richer and poor got poorer" India's income inequality is the highest in the world even more than South Africa, Brazil, US. 'The Billionaire Raj' is more unequal than British Raj headed by colonial forces. Inequality undermines both growth and poverty reduction. Between 1960 and 1980 inequality was dropping, such was the pattern of growth. However, inequality increased after liberalisation in 1980s and faster after economic reforms of 1991. Improvements in economic growth should precede economic growth if it is to be sustained in the long run. The states that sustained high growth rates in three decades were relatively less advanced in human development. These include Kerala, TN, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarati. States relatively lower in HDI like Odisha, UP, Rajasthan,Jharkhand,Chhattisgarh were able to register only a 5% growth rate. Mains PYQ 2023,GS 1: Why human development failed to keep pace with economic development in India? Usage gs1, gs3 development model, poverty, inequality, regional imbalance The data is very handy.Kindly memorise it by heart and use accordingly. #inequality Team Steel Frame Academy

Book:The Bill Gates Problem: Reckoning with the Myth of Good Billionaire by Tim Schwab says most of the research where Melinda Gates Foundation has record of saving lives is not independent.During pandemic India and South Africa lobbied for patent waiver over COVID vaccines. However Bill Gates argued that it's foundation has charitable partnerships with pharma industry and hence such a waive was unnecessary. It promised for vaccine equity but we saw vaccine apartheid. He has no formal training in most of the areas he works be it health, climate change or agriculture. His influence in world affairs means that the richest guy deserves the loudest voice.Gates philanthropic projects largely depends on the Indian corridors of power. It is dependent on Indian pharma sector for supplying low cost drugs and affordable vaccines. It  highlights the issue of extreme wealth and how it threatens democracy.
