Purism заявляет об отсутствии в системе рекламы, запросов на сбор пользовательских данных и фоновых сервисов, передающих сторонним компаниям телеметрию. Одной из главных особенностей Librem 16 стали два физических переключателя, расположенные над клавиатурой. Первый аппаратно отключает камеру и микрофон, второй — Wi-Fi и Bluetooth. В документации подчёркивается, что при переводе переключателя в положение OFF соответствующие устройства физически отсоединяются и перестают работать, то есть отключение не зависит от состояния операционной системы или драйверов.
