The ruling on placing an inscription on the grave stating the name of the deceased, the date of his death etc.
“It is not permissible to write on the grave [i.e. headstone] of the deceased, neither Qur'anic Āyāt, nor anything else, whether in metal, on a sign or on anything else. This is because of what has been authentically reported from the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ via the Hadeeth of Jābir رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ, he [صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ] *forbade plastering over the graves, sitting on them and building over them.* This was narrated by [Imām] Muslim in his Saheeh [Muslim] and [Imām] at-Tirmidhi, and [Imām] an-Nasa’i, added with an authentic chain of narrators, [‘and writing on them].’

"O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do."

Shaykh Sālih al-Usaymi, [may Allāh preserve him] said:
“Fasting and [recitation of] the Qur’ān cleanses impurities of the hearts which are accumulated due to sicknesses [of the heart]: desires, lusts and doubts, in the same manner as water and soap cleanses [our] bodies and clothes. Therefore, sieze the opportunity and take advantage of their coming together in [the blessed month of] Ramadān, and take from them to become amongst those who are truly fortunate¹. In order to attain complete purification of your hearts, therefore [elevate and] purify yourself so that you may become successful.

*O’ My [beloved] Brothers Series #2 - Shaykh ibn ‘Uthaymeen [may Allāh have mercy on him]*
Shaykh ibn ‘Uthaymeen [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“O’ my [beloved] brothers, reaching the [blessed] month of Ramadān is certainly a great blessing from Allāh, bestowed upon the one who has reached it and gives its due right by turning to Allāh [with sincere repentance] from his [previous] sins and by being obedient to Allāh. Ramadān is certainly a great blessing for the one who has been heedless towards Allāh and now remembers [i.e., gives his due rights to] Allah. Ramadān is certainly a great blessing for the one who was distant from Allāh, thus becoming closer to Him.”

لِمَ شُرع الصيام؟
قال: ليذوق الغنيُّ طعم الجوع، فلا ينسى الجائع.

Al-Imām ibn Rajab [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“Some of the Pious Predecessors and Successors were asked:
‘Why has fasting been prescribed?’
They replied:
‘So the rich will taste hunger and thus will not forget the hungry.’”

Shaykh Sālih al-‘Usaymi [may Allāh preserve him] said:
*“The customary, expected way of fasting in [the month of] Sha’bān is [encouraged] in order to strengthen the soul [in preparation] for the obligatory fasting in [the blessed month of] Ramadān. If the soul becomes accustomed to obedience, it becomes strong, and if it becomes accustomed to forbidden and prohibited matters [in Islam], it weakens!”*
