Unlike the early Sonata No. 8, Pathétique, Appassionata was not named during the composer's lifetime, but was so labelled in 1838 by the publisher of a four-hand arrangement of the work. Instead, Beethoven's autograph manuscript of the sonata has "La Passionata" written on the cover, in Beethoven's hand.
One of his greatest and most technically challenging piano sonatas, the Appassionata was considered by Beethoven to be his most tempestuous piano sonata until the twenty-ninth piano sonata (known as the Hammerklavier). 1803 was the year Beethoven came to grips with the irreversibility of his progressively deteriorating hearing.

پارتن در طول بیش از شش دهه فعالیت هنری، بیش از ۱۰۰ میلیون نسخه از آثارش را در سراسر جهان فروخت و بیش از سه هزار ترانه نوشت؛ آماری که او را به یکی از موفقترین هنرمندان تاریخ موسیقی کانتری تبدیل کرد.
چهره های سرشناس دنیای موسیقی و هنر با انتشار پیامهایی به او ادای احترام کردهاند. پل مک کارتنی گفت «تصور دنیایی بدون دالی دشوار است.» اپرا وینفری نوشت: «همه ما به خاطر حضور او، انسان های بهتری هستیم.» التون جان هم دالی پارتن را «بی همتا و غیرقابل جایگزین» توصیف کرد.

The Cello Sonata No 1 in E minor Op 38 was started in 1862, when Brahms was not yet thirty, with the finale being added to the long-completed first two movements in 1865. This, his first surviving duo-sonata, is an important work, in some ways a turning-point. His previous sonata had been the Third Piano Sonata, Op 5, a work of tempestuous youth, written in 1853 and prefaced by a quotation from the romantic poetry of Sternau. The cello sonata is utterly different; it is almost a ‘historical sonata’, its roots firmly planted in the music of the past.
