Many have hailed the technology because of the coming of the third technological revolution.3D printing is finding increasing application in the building segment due to the growing demand for high performance and easily constructing complex designs. This technology helps in creating lightweight components such as walls and panels while maintaining structural integrity, lowering the handling & transportation costs. In this technique, the material is extruded from a nozzle mounted on a crane, gantry to print a structure layer by layer. The extrusion-based technique is mainly employed for on-site construction applications and allows the usage of conventional construction materials such as concrete, geopolymer, cement, plaster, and clay. A few years ago, 3D printing was used in the construction sector mainly to produce construction components and niche parts, such as interior-decorating features, lighting effects and furniture. In recent years construction companies and national governments raised the bar with ambitious projects to 3D-print bigger and bigger structures. The ongoing rise of building data displaying (BIM) particularly may encourage more prominent utilization of 3D printing. Transparency Market Research delivers key insights on the worldwide 3D printing in the construction market is predicted to witness a ten-fold growth during the forecast period and reach a worth of US$ 280 Mn by 2027 from a modest market price of US$ 29 Mn in 2019. Recently, an IIT Chennai start up Tvasta built India’s first 3d printed house in IIT Madras.
