ICICI Bank has reported strong financial results for Q4 FY25, reflecting robust growth and improved asset quality:
- Net Profit: ₹12,630 crore, up 18% YoY from ₹10,707 crore.
- Net Interest Income (NII): ₹21,193 crore, an 11% increase YoY.
- Net Interest Margin (NIM): 4.41% in Q4 FY25, compared to 4.25% in Q3 FY25 and 4.40% in Q4 FY24.
- Asset Quality:
- Gross NPA: 1.67%, improved from 1.96% in the previous quarter.
- Net NPA: 0.39%, down from 0.42% in the previous quarter.
- Loan Growth:
- Domestic Loan Portfolio: ₹13.11 lakh crore, up 13.9% YoY.
- Retail Loans: Grew by 8.9% YoY, comprising 52.4% of the total loan portfolio.
- Dividend: ₹11 per share (face value ₹2)

| 6 | Tax Loss Harvesting -
Definition - Tax Loss Harvesting ( TLH ) is the act of booking unrealized losses on stocks or mutual funds to reduce taxable gains and minimize tax payable.
Set-Off Rules -
Long-Term Capital Loss ( LTCL ) -
Can be set off only against long-term capital gains ( LTCG ).
Cannot be set off against short-term capital gains ( STCG ).
Short-Term Capital Loss ( STCL ) -
Can be set off against either STCG or LTCG.
Carry Forward Losses - If losses cannot be fully set off in the same financial year:
Both STCL and LTCL can be carried forward for 8 assessment years.
Tax Rates -
#STCG - 15% of the gain ( till July 22, 2024 ).
20% of the gain ( post July 22, 2024 ).
#LTCG -
Tax-free up to ₹1.25 lakh annually.
Above ₹1.25 lakh -
Taxed at 10% ( till July 22, 2024 ).
Taxed at 12.5% ( post July 22, 2024 ).
Execution Guidelines -
Sell today, buy tomorrow -
Sell between 3:15-3:30 PM.
Buy back between 9:15-9:30 AM ( next day ).
Avoid high volatility periods - Refrain from TLH during high volatility weeks to avoid losses from gap ups/downs.
Purpose over greed - TLH is meant to reduce taxes, not for trading profits.
FIFO ( First In, First Out ) Rule - When selling partially, FIFO is applied to calculate realized loss.
Realized loss might differ from the overall loss displayed in holdings.
Check detailed breakdown reports for accuracy (provided by most brokers).

IRFC Expands Lending to Boost Margins - ET
Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) plans to lend to non-railway projects like metro systems and infrastructure to improve net interest margins.
It also explores refinancing loans from institutions like the World Bank.
CEO Manoj Kumar Dubey noted IRFC’s low borrowing costs and expects non-railway loans to yield 200-250 basis points, significantly higher than the 40 basis points earned from Indian Railways.
