📉 DEAR ALL, WHAT HAPPENED IN THE MARKETS — AND WITH US? At the beginning of the week, we were aggressive buyers of US30, based on its historical negative correlation with oil. When oil dropped sharply, we expected the Dow to follow with a positive reaction. However, the Dow initially remained relatively strong, and we interpreted the move as a potential lag. Then, on Tuesday, US30 started to decline aggressively. We attempted to buy the dip, expecting a mean-reversion move. Instead, the Dow continued to move lower, resulting in a significant loss for us. At that point, we changed our positioning and switched to selling gold, as we believed gold had not yet fully priced in the prevailing yield environment. Our priority throughout this process has been to keep risk controlled and protect the remaining capital. Despite the difficult move, we believe we are now positioned for a potentially more favorable setup. 🔹 Nasdaq: We continue to see relative strength, particularly while the AI investment narrative remains supportive. 🔹 Dow Jones: We expect continued pressure if oil prices remain elevated and the Financial sector continues to underperform. 🔹 Gold: We remain focused on the relationship between gold and bond yields, as any meaningful decline in yields could become an important catalyst for the next move higher. Markets do not always react immediately to the relationships we track. Sometimes the expected correlation takes time to materialize—or temporarily breaks down. We take the loss, reassess the market, control the risk, and keep moving forward.
