[Danger ⚠️ - Selling Options for Income] I used to sell options for income. I make a lot of nice income. But I have since reduced that portion to less than 10% of my portfolio. There is nothing wrong with getting income but there is a danger it forces us to make short term decisions and "hoping" that we can sell puts and not get assigned. If you understand how Buffett does it, most of the time, he ends up owning the stock. If you have enough conviction and data that it will go up, using Leap Call (Strategy X) is much better. BOSS probably can give us at most additional 15% to 20% of premium assuming everything goes well. Strategy X can easily make 50% to 100% is stock goes up. Don't think monthly or weekly only. Think long and execute what gives you best return over 5 to 10 years. To aim for short term result forces us to make many assumptions and predictions which very often may go against us forcing us into a situation where we get "shocked " and confused. This will increase the chance of us making silly mistakes when we are not in the right mind. Why do we need to get income monthly? Why not yearly? If you NEED monthly income from investing, you SHOULDN'T invest because one mistake will cause you to not achieve your goal. And there is no way anyone can invest logically with this kind of stress. Aim for yearly returns then draw down based on your needs. Example grow it at 15% then withdraw 10% for your needs. Leaving the portfolio intact with a 5% growth. Invest with Logic!
