[REJECTION OF THE USG’S PROPOSAL TO MOVE ILW DATES] In light of the overlapping dates of this term’s ILW and the Holy Week, the USG appealed to the PROVOST and Academics Council twice to move the ILW from April 1 to 6 instead of March 25 to 30. The USG cited that the overlapping dates of the ILW and the Holy Week may restrict the University's students, employees, and faculty from benefiting the ILW's academic objectives due to conflicting religious commitments during that period—which is traditionally a time to observe religious practices, fasting, and family customs. However, the Academics Council rejected the proposal both times. In rejecting the appeals, the Council cited that moving ILW would require compressing the academic term to only 11 weeks, going against the standard 12-week term. Rest assured that the USG will remain steadfast in our efforts to enhance student life by ensuring that all ILW guidelines are followed carefully and deliberately.
