So how do we know the speed of light? Olaus Roemer in 1676 claimed to know because he assumed Jupiter and its moon's size and location, which have never been proven. James Bradley in 1728 claimed to know because he assumed the speed of the Earth around the sun, which has never been proven or observed. Armand Fizeau's experiment in 1849 is the first that actually looks legitimate. But is speed of light travel really what is observed in this experiment? There are two interpretations for the results. The first is that light has a speed, which is very reasonable. The second is that light is instantaneous and fades in equally across the supposed current. The only part being observed is the end where the light appears in your eye. It is impossible to know which explanation is correct when only observing the results of this experiment. The light may need time to fade in when exposed to a new destination (in this case, it is behind the wheel). The guy in this video demonstrates that an electrical current powers the light bulb at the same speed no matter how long the cables are. This heavily implies that light travel is instantaneous and takes a slight amount of time to fade in, which it does equally along the entire current. The speed of light definitely seems to exist, but it is more than likely the speed of light fading in, not the speed of light traveling to its destination.
