"In July 2021, Lee Yu-bin, a fourth-year student at a teachers’ college, experienced dizziness and difficulty breathing the day after receiving the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The hospital diagnosed her with “pulmonary embolism and cerebral infarction caused by blood clots.”
Despite surgery, she passed away 12 days after vaccination. Her family applied for compensation, but the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) rejected the claim, stating no causal relationship could be confirmed. The family’s appeal was also dismissed by the government.
However, the first trial of their administrative lawsuit ruled differently: “The causal relationship is recognized,” ordering the government to provide compensation. Several court cases have since acknowledged the causal link between COVID-19 vaccination and deaths, similar to Lee’s case."
