Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, widely known as Sion Hospital, has long been a trusted lifeline for patients not only from across Mumbai but from every corner of the country. The growing demand for quality and accessible healthcare has made its expansion both necessary and urgent. Established in 1947 with just 60 beds, this historic institution has now grown into a 1900-bed facility and proudly houses India’s first human milk bank, set up in 1989. Today, it stands at the threshold of a transformative new chapter. The upcoming redevelopment will introduce a modern, 15-storey facility equipped with advanced diagnostic systems and more than 40 operation theatres, expanding its capacity to 3286 beds. Along with this, the establishment of a cancer hospital at this location, marking a significant step towards strengthening accessible and advanced healthcare. This landmark expansion will significantly strengthen Mumbai's healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that patients receive timely, advanced, and world-class medical care. CMO Maharashtra Tweets: सक्षम आणि अत्याधुनिक आरोग्यसेवेचा संकल्प मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांच्या हस्ते आज मुंबई येथे लोकमान्य टिळक महानगरपालिका सर्वसाधारण रुग्णालयाच्या पुनर्विकास करण्यात येणाऱ्या इमारतीचे भूमिपूजन करण्यात आले. 1947 मध्ये केवळ 60 खाटांचे रुग्णालय सुरू झाले होते; आज ते जवळपास 1900 खाटांचे झाले असून मल्टिस्पेशालिटी रुग्णालय म्हणून या रुग्णालयाकडे पाहिले जाते. मोठे ट्रॉमा केअर सेंटर, भारतातील पहिली ह्यूमन मिल्क बँक, तसेच भाजलेल्या रुग्णांसाठी स्किन बँक यांचा यात समावेश आहे. मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस म्हणाले की, या रुग्णालयाचा विस्तार झाल्यानंतर त्याची क्षमता जवळपास दुप्पट होणार असून 3286 खाटा रुग्णसेवेसाठी उपलब्ध होणार आहेत. डॉक्टर आणि नर्सेस यांच्या निवासासाठी 25 मजली इमारत, 13 मजली कॅन्सर केअर सुविधा आणि आधुनिक डायग्नोस्टिक्सच्या व्यवस्था उपलब्ध असणार आहेत. 15 मजली रुग्णालयाची इमारत, 14 मजल्यांची आपत्कालीन सेवा इमारत, 13 मजल्यांची बाह्यरुग्ण इमारत, 40 पेक्षा अधिक ऑपरेशन थिएटर अशी सुविधा उभारण्यात येणार आहे. यासाठी बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिका जवळपास ₹2500 कोटी खर्च करणार असून आधुनिक रुग्णालय उभारले जाणार आहे. याठिकाणी कॅन्सर रुग्णालय उभारले जात असल्याचे समाधान आहे. पुढील काळात प्रत्येक मुंबईकराला दर्जेदार सेवा मिळावी, या दृष्टीने महानगरपालिका आणि राज्य सरकारच्या माध्यमातून व्यवस्था उभी करून मोफत आणि दर्जेदार आरोग्य सेवा उपलब्ध करून दिली जात आहे, असे मुख्यमंत्री फडणवीस म्हणाले. यावेळी आमदार प्रसाद लाड, आमदार कालिदास कोळंबकर, आमदार कॅप्टन आर. तमील सेल्वन, मुंबईच्या महापौर रितू तावडे आणि इतर मान्यवर उपस्थित होते. #Maharashtra #DevendraFadnavis #LTMGHospital
