| 2 | How to approach the Subject Tests
The subject tests will aim to test you on 02 aspects:
(a) How well you have covered the syllabus-So please cover the syllabus in its entirety before attempting these tests. If you skip any topic now, it is highly likely that you will end up skipping that portion even before the final exam.
b) How well you have learnt from mistakes made in sectional tests- Questions that most of you have answered wrongly or left unattempted, will be repeated in these tests. So revise the sectional tests multiple times before attempting the sectional tests. Multiple revisions is the key for doing well in the final exam.
These tests will aim to provide a smooth transition to the full-length mock tests. Some topics, additional to the ones touched upon in the sectional tests, will be touched upon.
Good luck. | 503 |
| 3 | The first Subject Test on Microeconomics will be released by tomorrow. | 447 |
| 4 | As per recent developments, it is being believed that RBI DEPR 2022 official notification may be around the corner. Please increase your efforts manifolds. | 565 |
| 5 | We would love to hear about your interview experience for PFRDA Grade-A recruitment cycle 2021-22 (for ‘Research-Economics’ stream). In case you appeared for the interview and don’t mind sharing your experience/ type of questions asked, please drop a message on our telegram number 9811001603. | 684 |
| 6 | https://youtu.be/wmpvvh5x-Lk
Do watch it. Hear it from the principal economic adviser himself. See how well he presents. Think, if you were to explain these concepts, would you explain it in this way? Is there something you can learn from his presentation? | 712 |
| 7 | Even if you take help from some ‘coaching material’ to prepare these documents, don’t consider them to be a substitute of reading the original text. Organisations want an employee who is independent and reliable and an important criteria to decide that is to judge you on the sources you use to keep yourself abreast of current affairs. For instance, in last year’s DEPR interview, one of the candidates was asked ‘what exactly did our FM say while announcing so and so measure in the Union Budget’. So, for all purposes, please refer to the original documents. | 527 |
| 8 | https://www.indiabudget.gov.in/doc/budget_speech.docx
Download the budget speech in MS Word Format and make it ready-to-use from the exam’s point of view: Delete content that is not relevant from an examination’s point of view. Once you do that, this will become a concise document that will come handy for all descriptive exams. For objective exams, you may be required to prepare some additional facts. | 507 |
| 9 | Economic Survey 2021-22.pdf | 483 |
| 10 | As we are approaching the scheduled date (01 Feb 2022) of the presentation of Union Budget 2022-23, a small advise: Please listen to the full budget speech of our FM, attentively. It will improve your retention and help you prepare this important topic from examination’s point of view. | 746 |
| 11 | PFRDA (Research) Examination Update: Interview Call-Letters Issued
PFRDA has sent interview call letters to, at least, a few candidates today. Although on searching their website, we couldn’t locate the Phase-II result, but this news is authentic.
In case you had appeared for PFRDA Phase-II exam, please check your registered email inbox thoroughly.
If you have been shortlisted for the interview stage, All the best for it. If not, gear up for the upcoming exams. PFRDA had only one vacancy under Research discipline, but SEBI has many more. And even in RBI DEPR, vacancies are expected to be higher than SEBI.
Identify the areas where you need to improve and keep moving ahead. All the best.
Update: Phase-II Result has been uploaded on PFRDA website on 14.01.2022. | 924 |

Hopefully, at least some of you will benefit from it. All the best. | 806 |
| 13 | SEBI Recruitment notification (Grade A, 2022) released.
We recommend all DEPR aspirants to appear for SEBI-Research stream as well.
Gear up for the exams now. Other recruitment notifications may also follow soon. | 943 |
| 14 | The first of three 03 Subject Tests under ‘Growth + Booster’ plan, that is, ‘Microeconomics’ will be released in this month (January-2022). As per recent trend, the syllabus of this test constitutes one complete section of your final DEPR exam! Before attempting this test, tell this to yourself - If you skip any topics of Microeconomics before attempting this test, there is a high probability that you won’t prepare those topics even before the final exam. So, Please cover the entire Microeconomics syllabus diligently before this Mock Test. We will share our views on how to approach preparation for this test, after a few days.
Let this new year be dedicated to those loved ones in your life who have made innumerable sacrifices to help you prosper. Your hard work today may give them (and yourself) many more moments of joy in future. Life will continue to throw many challenges, and only if YOU are strong enough, will you be able to support yourself and your loved ones.
Time is limited, so utilise it judiciously. May you spend the next 365 days of your life in a meaningful way. Good luck.
Update: The Microeconomics subject Test will be released in the first half of February 2022. | 812 |
| 15 | 1. Hi. Over the last few days, we spoke to a few candidates regarding their preparation for the RBI DEPR exam. Although we could not speak to all the candidates enrolled in the DEPR ‘Growth + Booster’ plan at this stage, but we will surely try to speak to other candidates during the next round of talks. However, if any of you (irrespective of whether enrolled in the Test Series or not) wants to have a brief talk with us at this stage, please feel free to drop us a message on our telegram number.
2. We are happy that your preparation is moving ahead and most of you, by now, have a decent level of clarity regarding the DEPR exam. To reiterate, (as per recent trend), the phase-1 of this exam demands comfort with subjects of Micro, Macro, Statistics and Econometrics, with emphasis on numerical-based questions.
3. Further, based on the discussion, we would like to mention some points where you can improve:
(a) Abstain from ‘Reverse-Engineering’ and Prepare Thoroughly Before Attempting a Mock Test: Most of you are attempting the Mock Tests without adequate preparation. In the words of one of the candidates, ‘I attempt the tests without any special preparation and after the tests, I take note of my mistakes’. This approach, in our opinion, is suboptimal. The two primary objectives of any Test Series are (i) To make candidates revise the syllabus multiple times (ii) Learn from mistakes. If you don’t prepare sincerely for the Mock Test, before attempting it, you are depriving yourself of (i). Please.. please… prepare very well before each Mock Test. It will help your preparation immensely. Multiple (more than 5 times) Revisions is the key to remember the content of your books during the final exam.
(b) Prepare Short-Notes for Last-Minute Revision: Imagine yourself to be in the week before the final exam. You covered micro sometime ago, but you want to revise a few of those topics. Oh, but you also have a few topics to cover from macro. And statistics? You aren’t able to recall the formula for relation between the three measures of central tendency! Also, you believe that Econometrics is the most important subject and want to revise it one more time before the exam. In other words, you are confused and feel that if you don’t do proper revision, you may not get desired results despite a long spell of preparation in the previous few months.
This situation can be avoided if you keep your short-notes ready. It will help you tremendously just before the exam. Short-notes should be very crisp, containing only very important information, such as important formulae/ facts/ concept in brief (for all subjects). We would recommend you making short notes once you have gone through a particular subject at least 3 times.
(c) Don’t Neglect ‘non-numerical’ based or factual questions: Good preparation for any exam involves being thorough with the syllabus, as well practice of all types of questions. As per recent trends, the DEPR exam emphasises numerical-based questions, so you should prepare them thoroughly. However, this does not mean that you ignore other type of questions. If you remember facts like who gave which theories or a few names of the economists associated with major fields (Keynesian, monetarist, etc.), it can come handy. Such questions have been asked in 2019 paper. And if just one question of this type appears in the exam, which you could not answer but your competitor could, you have given her an undue edge! So, in short, Please prepare yourself for all type of questions, but exphasise on the numerical-based ones. Remembering factual information will also be useful when you appear for descriptive exam/other exams related to economics discipline.
(d) Don’t neglect phase-II. Take it along. For important topics in current affairs, make short notes.
Keep up the hard work. The notification may be released any time. Before the notification is released, you should be thorough with at least 2-3 rounds of revision and one round of Mock Tests. All the best. | 889 |
| 16 | For those of you who had appeared for the PFRDA Grade-A exam held on 17.10.2021, the result of phase-I has been declared. Good luck for phase-II !

| 18 | Hello. The candidates who have attempted all 8 sectional tests may receive a phone call from us (from the number- 9811001603) sometime during the next 1-2 weeks, to discuss stuff related to their preparation.
Looking forward to an engaging conversation. | 1 208 |
| 19 | By the next Sunday, the remaining two sectional tests (Macro-2 and Econometrics) will also be released. That will complete the first round of tests. If you have prepared as per the schedule, you should already be thorough with the tentative syllabus at least once ! If not, please do so now. Begin serious preparation. The time is limited.
All the best. | 1 471 |
| 20 | You should neither be elated at scoring high marks in any Mock Test nor should you be dejected at scoring low marks. The purpose of Mock Tests is to let you understand the gaps in your preparation and prompt you to fill them.
Each Mock Test has some reward for your existing knowledge but also tries to tell you where you are lagging. Each question which you answered wrongly or couldn’t attempt presents an opportunity for you to improve your knowledge. Revise them multiple times so that you don’t miss out if any question based on it appears in the final exam. Mock Tests will not be useful if you don’t go through your mistakes and improve upon them.
Further, please Go through solutions of correctly answered questions also, at least once. It may contain some important message/links. | 1 410 |
