On October 2, 2024, the Honorable Prime Minister launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, a momentous initiative that coincides with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This scheme holds special significance as it pays tribute to Birsa Munda, an iconic Adivasi leader, affectionately known as Dharti Aaba, or the Father of the Land. 🌍💚 🌟 Key Highlights Vision: The DAJGUA envisions the saturation of critical gaps in social infrastructure, health, education, and livelihood, specifically focusing on the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) population. Funding: With a robust total outlay of ₹79,156 crores (Central Share: ₹56,333 crore & State Share: ₹22,823 crore), this scheme is set to create a significant impact! Coverage: The Abhiyan will cover approximately 63,843 villages, benefitting over 5 crore tribal people across 549 districts and 2,911 blocks in 30 States/UTs. 📈🏞 Implementation: The scheme will be executed through 25 interventions by 17 line ministries of the Government of India, ensuring a holistic and sustainable approach to tribal development. Once thought to be extinct, these elusive creatures were rediscovered in 1971 in the Barnadi Wildlife Sanctuary, and since 1996, captive breeding and conservation efforts have been helping them make a comeback! ✨ Fun Facts ✨ The pygmy hog is one of the few mammals that builds its own nest, complete with a roof! 🏡 They live hidden in tall, dense grass, only found in Assam’s Manas and Barnadi Wildlife Sanctuaries.
