Aditya-L1's primary payload, VELC helps decode why the Sun's outer atmosphere (corona) is much hotter than its surface?
What is Aditya-L1?
It is India's first dedicated solar observatory mission, launched by ISRO to study the Sun and its influence on space weather.
Why is it called L1?
The spacecraft is positioned near the Sun-Earth L1 (Lagrange Point-1).
What is L1?
It is a location where the gravitational forces of two large bodies balance the orbital motion of a spacecraft.
It lies approximately 1.5 million km from Earth toward the Sun.
Payloads on Aditya-L1
Aditya-L1 carries 7 scientific payloads.
Remote Sensing Payloads :
🎉VELC
🎉SUIT
🎉SoLEXS
🎉HEL1OS
In-situ Payloads :
🎉ASPEX
🎉PAPA
What did Aditya-L1 Discover?
Using VELC data, scientists found:
-Tangled solar magnetic fields continuously reconnect.
-These reconnections release enormous energy.
-This energy replenishes losses caused by solar eruptions.
-Wave motions account for only ~7% of the heating requirement.

India must prepare now for a possible rise in food inflation due to the emerging El Niño conditions, even though the overall inflation situation is currently under control.
What is El Niño?
El Niño is a climate phenomenon characterized by the abnormal warming of sea surface waters in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean, particularly off the coasts of Peru and Ecuador.
It occurs every 2–7 years and typically lasts 9–12 months, though strong events can persist longer.
How El Niño Threatens Food Security.
1. Reduced Crop Production
2. Heat Stress on Crops
3. Rising Food Prices (Food Inflation)
4. Impact on Rural Livelihoods
5. Global Food Supply Disruptions
Right now, India has :
🔥Prepared contingency plans for hundreds of vulnerable districts.
🔥Built substantial food grain stocks.
🔥Expanded crop insurance and support mechanisms.
🔥Improved irrigation and climate-resilient farming practices.

In an unprecedented move, the Indian government has temporarily restricted access to Telegram across the country until June 22, 2026, ahead of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.
Acting on the recommendations of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) invoked Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000 to curb the misuse of the platform by organised cheating rackets allegedly involved in spreading fake question papers and exam-related fraud. Telegram has also been directed to disable its message-editing feature for already-posted messages until June 30 to prevent the fabrication of "after-the-event" paper leak evidence.
The Centre says the temporary restrictions are aimed at safeguarding the integrity of one of India's largest entrance examinations, even as the move sparks debate over the balance between exam security and digital freedoms

India has achieved a historic breakthrough in the Zojila Tunnel, a 14.15-km engineering marvel beneath the Himalayas that will become the country's longest road tunnel and one of the world's longest high-altitude bi-directional tunnels.
Why does it matter?
🔹 All-weather connectivity: For decades, heavy snowfall shut the Zoji La Pass for nearly six months every year, isolating Ladakh from the Kashmir Valley.
🔹 Travel time slashed: The journey between Sonamarg and Kargil, which currently takes hours through treacherous terrain, will be reduced to around 20–30 minutes.
🔹 A strategic shield: The tunnel will enable faster movement of troops, equipment, and essential supplies to India's sensitive northern frontiers, strengthening defence preparedness.
🔹 A lifeline for civilians: Students, patients, traders, and local communities in Ladakh will gain year-round access to healthcare, education, markets, and opportunities.

In rural Punjab, a pioneering healthcare initiative is proving that it can. Through WhatsApp-based training and real-time guidance from cardiologists, local doctors are rapidly identifying severe heart attacks and administering the life-saving clot-busting drug tenecteplase before patients reach specialized hospitals.
The result? Faster treatment, reduced delays, and hundreds of lives saved. The model highlights how simple digital tools, when combined with medical expertise, can transform emergency healthcare in underserved regions.
📱💓 A powerful reminder that innovation doesn't always require advanced technology—sometimes, it starts with an app already in everyone's pocket.

A new study published in the journal Nature Medicine has shown that a simple blood test measuring the protein p-tau217 may help predict when Alzheimer’s disease symptoms are likely to begin, years before memory loss appears. Researchers analysed data from more than 600 adults and developed a “clock model” capable of estimating symptom onset within an accuracy range of about 3–4 years. The findings suggest that elevated p-tau217 levels reflect the gradual buildup of amyloid and tau proteins in the brain, which are key markers of Alzheimer’s disease. Scientists believe the test could improve early detection and accelerate preventive clinical trials, though experts caution that further validation is needed before routine clinical use.

In a deeply emotional and historic decision, the Supreme Court of India has permitted the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment for 31-year-old Harish Rana, who has been in a permanent vegetative state for over 12 years following a severe brain injury in 2013.
The plea was filed by his elderly parents, who had been caring for their son for more than a decade with no hope of recovery. After examining medical reports and expert opinions, the court allowed passive euthanasia—the withdrawal of artificial life support—so that he may “die with dignity.”
The Supreme Court also directed that the process be carried out under strict medical supervision, emphasizing a humane and compassionate approach in such end-of-life decisions.
Why this matters:
Reinforces the principle of “Right to Die with Dignity” under Article 21.
Marks one of the most significant real-world applications of passive euthanasia in India.
Rekindles the national debate on end-of-life care, medical ethics, and legal safeguards.
