Quando ho letto questa frase, mi è sembrata più di una battuta: una diagnosi. Perché a pensarci bene, gran parte di ciò che chiamiamo “tempo libero” oggi non è davvero libertà, ma un continuo micro-spostamento dell’attenzione: da un contenuto all’altro, da uno schermo all’altro, da un “solo due minuti” al successivo.
Il grafico in allegato prova a raccontare proprio questo cambiamento. Segue, dal 1920 al 2026, come un adulto medio statunitense (25–35 anni) distribuisce il proprio tempo fuori da lavoro e sonno — includendo anche pendolarismo e lavori domestici. Non è solo un confronto di abitudini: è una fotografia di come tecnologia e società abbiano riscritto la forma delle nostre giornate.
Curioso (e rivelatore) è che la voce “non fare nulla” scompaia dopo il 1967.
