Basically, this is true face of the Alami Shura breakaway faction of Tablighi Jamaat. They take legal advice from an openly Zionist law firm to win a piece of land in an English court, away from the rightful owners according to Islamic waqf rules, in order to support their breakaway activities. Boycott? What boycott? Might as well break your Ramadan fasts with some juicy Israeli dates from the OPT.

A good Usul al-Fiqh exercise you should ask yourself is this: 'What might the Imams of the legal schools have done were they raised in a different era or environment?' For example: (i) Would Imam al-Shafi'i's approach have differed had he not travelled to multiple regions? (ii) Would Imam Malik's approach have differed had he travelled as extensively as Imam al-Shafi'i? (iii) Would Imam Abu Hanifah's approach have differed were he raised in Madinah? (iv) Would Imam Ahmad's approach have differed were he born a generation earlier? (v) Did scholars outside of Madinah not consider 'Amal Ahl al-Madinah (i.e. Madinan Practice) simply because they couldn't (by not living in Madinah), or because they actively dismissed it? (vi) What is the rationale behind 'Amal Ahl al-Madinah, and were scholars outside Madinah actually exercising that rationale in their own capacity? And after answering these questions, ask yourself what the ramifications of your answers actually are. These aren't just theoretical questions. They directly affect your perception and framework of Law. InSha'Allah, this is the approach I'll be taking in next week's Usul al-Fiqh course. (You can check the link out here.)

Of course in a normal world, the above - a Shafi’i summarising a Hanafi work - is not a problem. But we live in an abnormal world, where some Ahnaf like to pretend they have their own Hadith methodology and ecosystem, because of what Jassas said to Daraqutni. With their insistence on such a pseudo-science, the aforementioned juxtaposition - and many others - is justified. Tell me why it is not.

Ahnaf went from Jassas blasting Daraqutni for offering to gather Hanafi proofs, to begging a Shafi’i to summarise Mukhtasar Al-Quduri for them

According to the Quran, it is a very Jewish trait to conceal the truth from the masses that they would benefit from, even when there is an explicit prohibition against it in all heavenly books: ‎وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَـٰقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُۥ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكْتُمُونَهُۥ Such behaviours are found in the Sirah as well, in the Muslims’ interaction with the Jews of Madinah. Sworn secrecy based on tribalism perpetuates sectarianism in what would otherwise be a matter of calm and tempered consideration. The solution for that is straight: speak the truth even if it is against yourself, as per the Quranic command: There is nothing more damaging to the pursuit of truth than staying silent against your own when you know better.

Also remember, now and forever, that these Deobandi nutjobs invited Daniel to a bastion of their own learning, Azaadville, to school them on theology. All hush hush of course, so they can discard him like a worn rag when it is expedient for them. https://x.com/hwmaqbul/status/1665416357565849602 By their own standards, they have fallen foul of their own rules: The South African Wifaqul Ulama - a newly formed body that has an extreme interpretation of what it means to be a Deobandi (even the major scholars of the Sub-Continent would not be eligible to sign up to them) - invited a person like Daniel who doesn’t do blanket Takfir on the Shia. Blanket Takfir of Shia is an unwritten part of the Wifaq constitution. The contradictions are more stark than one could have imagine. I pray these neo-Deobandis solidify their circular firing squad and continue to tear lumps out of each other and whomever they were in these fake alliances with (like Daniel), and keep the rest of the Ummah (including the overwhelming majority of Deobandis) from their shenanigans. I don’t care which side here is right or wrong on the Shia issue. They are not in a position to be afforded any thought leadership for the Muslims.

This is an excellent travelogue of Western Cape, South Africa. A mix of landscape photography, food reviews, Muslim history (including Dutch slavery), scholarly achievements and other miscellaneous learning points. Travelling is a culturally enriching experience, and travelogues like these help in learning from other people’s stories. I highly recommend reading the above piece.

Related is the following hadith from Sahih Muslim:
