Hola My People,
I Wanted to let you know that today, October 13m 2026 we’re (Efuye Gela) hosting an event at 6 kilo Satchmo and Col. John C. Robinson American Center and I’d love if you can attend.
We’ve been running the project since July with the American Embassy and tomorrow is the final cumulation of that work. There will be games, trivia, and a special treasure hunt prepared for that event.
It’s going be from 2pm (8 O'clock in the afternoon) to 4:30pm (10.30 O'clock in the afternoon).
If you can come to help that’d be great and attending the event is great help.
Much thanks as always.
Tizita’s Thoughts
There are so many things in life that I understood differently after I actually experienced them.
Love.
Marriage.
Work.
Leadership.
Friendship.
Even knowing myself.
I had advice, expectations, and ideas about how they were supposed to feel.
But experience has a funny way of teaching you things that nobody can fully explain.
Sometimes what you heard was true… but incomplete.
Sometimes you realize, “Ohhh, THIS is what they meant.”🤔
And sometimes you realize they were completely wrong.
Maybe growing up is partly this:
learning the difference between what you were told about life and what life actually teaches you.
Sometimes, we don't get what we want not because we don't deserve it, but we're not there yet to manage the things that we think we want.

100% completion rate" doesn't mean anyone actually learned anything. 🙃
Have you ever sat through a training or course where you got the "pass" certificate, but when it came to doing the actual work, you felt completely unprepared?

Eighth judge :- Yohanes Fikru
Also known as Major John
Yohanes is a Software Developer and Game Developer with a passion for building interactive experiences that make people think, feel, and start conversations.
He is the co-founder of the indie game studio Muqecha, where he focuses on programming and technical direction while working closely with artists and designers to bring meaningful games to life.
One of his notable projects is Lomi, a game set during the Ethiopian holiday Timket, which explores real social issues such as catcalling and harassment through an interactive experience.
But Yohanes isn't just about games. He is deeply interested in AI, automation, emerging technologies, and the creative process behind building products. He regularly shares what he learns through his writing, talks, workshops, and boot camps.
He also genuinely enjoys mentoring and teaching aspiring developers, helping them understand not just how to build something, but how to think about what they are building.
Because of Major john joining our hackathon as a mentor , we have added game developing submissions option too. you can compete either with a full stack project or Games if you want too.
If you are building something in the game development space, or simply want to learn how to turn an idea into an interactive experience, Yohanes is definitely someone you want feedback from.
It is an honor to have Yohanes Fikru as a judge and mentor for the official STARK Hackathon.
A new year always makes me think about fresh starts.
Not because everything suddenly becomes easy, but because sometimes we just need a new beginning, a new mindset, and a little more hope.
ያለፈውን ዓመት ስናስብ፣ there were good days, hard days, lessons, mistakes, answered prayers, and maybe some things we are still waiting for.
But here we are.
Still learning.
Still growing.
Still becoming.
For this new year, I pray for peace, wisdom, good health, meaningful relationships, and the courage to keep going even when things are not clear.
And maybe this year, instead of putting too much pressure on ourselves to “become a new person,” we can simply try to become a little better, a little kinder, and a little more honest with ourselves.
Happy New Year from Tizita’s Notes.
What is one thing you want to bury and carry with you into this new year?
