A young barber at Denkyira Duaso identified as Mawuko Manfred has reportedly lost his life during a ritual testing of a bulletproof charm meant to fortify him against gunshots.
Reports indicate the young boy had developed interest in joining a local gang and sought protection against rival gangs. In pursuit of this, he visited a spiritualist, Yusif Shafii, for “gun medicine” believed to make him bulletproof.
After reportedly performing the ritual, Yusif Shafii and his apprentice, Samuel Govnant, allegedly said the medicine needed to be tested. Samuel then fired a loaded gun, striking him in the chest and killing him instantly.
The Ghana Police Service has since arrested Yusif Shafii, 37, and Samuel Govnant, who are assisting with investigations.
