Sending your raw, permanent 15-digit IMEI to a centralized remote database is a catastrophic security nightmare for multiple reasons: - The Dev Goes Rogue: If a maintainer gets mad, burns out, or sells out, your permanent physical hardware identity is leaked. Unlike a password, you can't just reset an IMEI. - The Database Gets Stolen: Hackers love databases of valid, active, clean cellular IDs. If that server gets breached, your data is immediately going to black-market cloning rings. - Targeted Weaponization: If an admin or an attacker wants to screw you over specifically, they can clone your IMEI to commit fraud under your footprint, or report your device as lost/stolen—instantly blacklisting your phone from connecting to any cellular network globally.
