Fact (GS3 – Science & Technology): According to DST’s R&D Statistics 2025–26, India’s GERD is around 0.83% of GDP, with the private sector contributing 51.8% of national R&D expenditure.
Significance: Rising private investment signals stronger industry-led innovation, but low R&D intensity and weak industry–academia linkages constrain India’s technological self-reliance.
Use in: Innovation, indigenisation, economic growth and research ecosystem questions.

New Tesla Roadster prototype
The car used SpaceX-developed cold-gas thrusters (compressed air stored in high-pressure tanks, no combustion) for short bursts of thrust. This allowed controlled hops, mid-air flips/rolls, orientation control, and landings.
Elon did it all in one life.
