💭 CRYPTO 101 — #20 What is Liquidation? 💥 We’ve been learning how crypto futures work. But there’s one major risk every futures trader needs to understand: Liquidation. ⚠️ When trading futures with leverage, you use margin to maintain your position. If the market moves too far against you and your margin can no longer support the position, the exchange can automatically close it. That’s called Liquidation. And the more leverage you use, the less room your trade generally has to move against you before liquidation risk increases. 📉 But there’s another important setting that determines how much of your balance is exposed if things go wrong: Cross Margin vs Isolated Margin. 👀 What’s the difference? Next: Cross Margin vs Isolated Margin 🔐

🤯 CRYPTO CRAZY FACT Imagine trying to make a Bitcoin transaction… and accidentally paying around $103,000 just in fees. 💀 Yep, that actually happened. In August, a Bitcoin transaction ended up using about 1.60 BTC as the transaction fee. And how much Bitcoin reached the recipient? 0 BTC. 😭 An automated fee-setting process reportedly went wrong, causing essentially the entire amount to be consumed as fees. $103K spent… $0 sent. 😂₿ One very expensive reminder: Always double-check your transactions before hitting send. 😭

📰 CRYPTO NEWS 🇦🇪 One of the world’s biggest banks just made a major move into crypto. 👀 Standard Chartered has launched Bitcoin and Ethereum spot trading for institutional clients in the UAE. ₿Ξ The service is being offered through its regulated DIFC entity in Dubai, allowing eligible institutional clients to trade BTC and ETH through the bank. Standard Chartered says this makes it the first Global Systemically Important Bank (G-SIB) to offer institutional Bitcoin and Ethereum spot trading in the UAE. 🏦 Another big step as traditional finance and crypto continue moving closer together. 🌍

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #19 What is the Funding Rate? 💰 Yesterday, we learned that Perpetual Futures don’t have an expiration date. ♾️ So how does the price of a perpetual contract stay close to the actual crypto market price? One mechanism used is the Funding Rate. Here’s the basic idea 👇 🟢 Positive Funding Rate Long traders generally pay Short traders. 🔴 Negative Funding Rate Short traders generally pay Long traders. The payment happens between traders — it isn’t simply a trading fee collected by the exchange. Why does this matter? Because if you keep a perpetual position open, funding payments can affect the cost of holding that position over time. And funding rates can also give you clues about which side of the market is more crowded. 👀 But there’s another futures concept every trader needs to understand: What happens when your position moves too far against you? 💥 Liquidation. Next: What is Liquidation? ⚠️

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #18 What Are Perpetual Futures? ♾️ Yesterday, we introduced Crypto Futures Trading. But if you open the futures section of a crypto exchange, you’ll often see the word: “Perpetual” or “Perp.” 👀 So what does it mean? Traditional futures contracts usually have an expiration date. But Perpetual Futures don’t. This means a trader can keep a position open without waiting for a contract to expire — as long as they have enough margin to maintain the position. But this creates an interesting problem. 🤔 If the contract never expires… How does its price stay close to the actual crypto market price? That’s where something unique to perpetual futures comes in: 💰 Funding Rate Depending on the market, traders on one side periodically pay traders on the other side. Why does that happen, and who pays who? 👀 Next: What is the Funding Rate? 💰

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #17 What is Crypto Futures Trading? ⚡ So far, we’ve talked about Spot Trading — where you buy and own the actual crypto. But there’s another major market in crypto: Futures. 📊 With crypto futures, you’re not simply buying Bitcoin or another crypto to hold. Instead, you’re trading a contract based on the price movement of that crypto. This means traders can take positions based on whether they expect the price to move up or down. 📈📉 And futures also give traders access to something many of you will already recognize from Forex: Leverage. But there’s something different you’ll see everywhere in crypto futures: Perpetual Futures. ♾️ Unlike traditional futures contracts, these can stay open without a fixed expiration date. So how does that actually work? 👀 Next: What Are Perpetual Futures? ♾️

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #16 What are Bid & Ask? 📊 When you open a crypto trading screen, you’ll usually see prices constantly moving in green and red. 📈📉 Two important terms behind those prices are: 🟢 Bid 🔴 Ask The Bid is the highest price a buyer is currently willing to pay for a crypto. The Ask is the lowest price a seller is currently willing to accept. For example: Bid: $59,990 Ask: $60,000 Understanding Bid & Ask helps you understand the prices you see when buying and selling crypto. But so far, we’ve mostly been talking about the Spot Market. Crypto also has another major market traders use: FUTURES. ⚡ So how does crypto futures trading actually work? 👀 Next: What is Crypto Futures Trading? 📈

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #15 Market Order vs Limit Order 📊 You’ve chosen your trading pair — for example BTC/USDT. Now you want to buy Bitcoin. You’ll usually see different order types when placing a trade. Two of the most common are: ⚡ Market Order A market order tells the exchange: Buy or sell now at the best available price. 🎯 Limit Order A limit order lets you choose the price you want to buy or sell at. For example, if BTC is currently $60,000, but you only want to buy at $58,000, you can place a limit order at $58,000. The order will only execute if the market reaches your price and there’s enough liquidity to fill it. So: ⚡ Market = execute now 🎯 Limit = execute at your chosen price or better But whether you’re buying or selling, there are two prices you’ll constantly see on a trading screen… Bid & Ask. 👀 What do they mean? Next: Bid vs Ask 📈

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #14 What is a Trading Pair? 📊 Yesterday, we talked about Spot Trading and used this example: BTC/USDT But what exactly does that mean? 🤔 This is called a trading pair. For example: ₿ BTC/USDT BTC is the asset you’re buying or selling. USDT is what its price is being measured in. So if BTC/USDT is trading at $60,000, it means: 1 BTC ≈ 60,000 USDT You’ll see trading pairs everywhere on crypto exchanges: ETH/USDT SOL/USDT BTC/USDT Once you choose your trading pair, there’s another decision to make… How do you actually place your order? 👀 You’ll usually see terms like Market Order and Limit Order. 💭 CRYPTO 101 — #13 What is Spot Trading? 📊 Now that we’ve covered the basics of crypto, wallets and exchanges… Let’s start learning the terms you’ll actually see when trading crypto. 👀 First up: Spot Trading. For example: You have USDT and want to buy Bitcoin. ₿ On the BTC/USDT spot market, you can exchange your USDT for BTC. When you buy Bitcoin through spot trading, you’re buying the actual asset — not a contract based on its price. Simple, right? But you probably noticed something: BTC/USDT Why are two cryptocurrencies written together like that? 🤔 That’s called a Trading Pair. And understanding trading pairs is essential before you start reading a crypto trading screen. Next: What is a Trading Pair? 📈

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #12 What is a Crypto Wallet? 🔐 You now know how crypto exchanges work. But once you own crypto… Where do you keep it? 🤔 That’s where crypto wallets come in. Your crypto itself isn’t literally stored inside the wallet. It stays recorded on the blockchain — your wallet gives you the tools needed to access and manage it. ⛓️ There are two common ways people hold their crypto: 🏢 Custodial Wallet — a platform manages the private keys for you. 🔐 Self-Custody Wallet — you control the private keys yourself. Wallets are mainly about holding, sending and receiving crypto. But what happens when you want to trade that crypto? 📊 That brings us into a whole new set of terms you’ll see on crypto exchanges. And we’ll start with one of the most important. 👀 Next: What is Spot Trading? 📈

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #11 What is a Centralized Exchange (CEX)? 🏢 Yesterday, we learned about crypto exchanges and Decentralized Exchanges (DEX). Now let’s look at the other main type: Centralized Exchanges — CEX. With a centralized exchange, you create an account on a platform where you can buy, sell and trade cryptocurrencies. 🔄 The platform helps connect buyers and sellers and provides the tools needed to manage your trades. For example, Bybit — the platform bringing you this Crypto 101 series — is a centralized crypto exchange. 🟡 And over the coming lessons, we’ll start showing you how platforms like Bybit actually work — step by step. 👀 But before that, there’s something every crypto user should understand: Where do you actually keep your crypto? 🔐 Next: What is a Crypto Wallet?

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #10 What is a Crypto Exchange? 🔄 You’ve learned about Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT. But where do people actually buy, sell or exchange crypto? 🤔 That’s where crypto exchanges come in. There are two main types of crypto exchanges: 👇 🏢 Centralized Exchanges (CEX) 🌐 Decentralized Exchanges (DEX) Let’s start with Decentralized Exchanges. A DEX allows users to exchange crypto directly through blockchain-based smart contracts, usually by connecting their own crypto wallet. 🔐 There isn’t one central company handling the trade for you. Examples include Uniswap and PancakeSwap. So how is a Centralized Exchange different — and why do so many people use them? 👀 Next: Centralized Exchanges (CEX) 📊

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #9 What is USDT? 💵 You’ve probably seen USDT everywhere in crypto. So what exactly is it? 🤔 USDT, also known as Tether, is a stablecoin designed to maintain a value close to the US Dollar. በቀላሉ — 1 USDT ≈ $1 💵 Unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, USDT isn’t designed to constantly rise or fall in price. That’s why people commonly use it to: 💸 Send and receive money 🔄 Move between different cryptocurrencies 💰 Hold funds without the same price swings as Bitcoin For example, instead of saying: “I have $100 in crypto” you might actually have 100 USDT in your crypto wallet. But how do you actually buy, sell or exchange Bitcoin, USDT and other cryptocurrencies? 👀 That’s where a crypto exchange comes in. Next: What is a Crypto Exchange? 📊

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #8 What Are Stablecoins? 💵 Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies can move up and down in price quickly. 📈📉 But some cryptocurrencies are designed to stay stable. These are called stablecoins. For example: 💵 1 USDT ≈ $1 💵 1 USDC ≈ $1 This makes stablecoins useful for transferring money, storing value between trades and using crypto without being exposed to the same price swings as Bitcoin or other coins. But remember — “stable” doesn’t mean risk-free. ⚠️ Different stablecoins work differently and have different risks. You’ve probably already heard of the biggest one… USDT. 👀 So what exactly is it? Next: What is USDT? 💵

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #7 What is Ethereum? You’ve learned about Bitcoin and altcoins. Now lets look at the biggest altcoin Ethereum. Ethereum is a blockchain network that allows people to do much more than just send and receive digital money. These are called decentralized applications (dApps). Ethereum also introduced one of the most important ideas in crypto: 📄 Smart Contracts These are programs stored on the blockchain that can automatically execute when certain conditions are met. And ETH (Ether) is the cryptocurrency used to pay for transactions and interact with applications on the Ethereum network. ⛽ Think of it like this 👇 Bitcoin = primarily digital money Ethereum = a blockchain platform where applications can be built 🧩 And Ethereum opened the door to things like DeFi, NFTs and thousands of crypto projects. But there’s another type of crypto designed to solve a completely different problem… 👀 Next: What Are Stablecoins?

💭 CRYPTO 101 — #6 What Are Altcoins? 🪙 Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency — but today, there are thousands of others. These are commonly called altcoins. The word comes from “alternative coin” — alternatives to Bitcoin. Some altcoins are built for different purposes. 👇 ⚡ Some focus on faster or cheaper transactions. 🌐 Some power blockchain platforms and applications. 💵 Others are designed to keep a stable value, like stablecoins. Examples include Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP and many more. But here’s the important part: Not every altcoin is the same — and not every altcoin has real value or a strong use case. ⚠️ So before looking at thousands of different coins… Let’s start with the biggest one after Bitcoin. 👀 Next: What is Ethereum?
