The Greatest Things That Destroy Homes of Tranquility and Peace 🏠
Shaykh Abū Sulaymān Salmān al-ʿImād—may Allāh preserve him—said:
We are in dire need, at a time when voices of complaint over psychological illnesses and the breakdown of social and family relationships have risen.
You find nothing but pain, cries, and distress, and people frequently ask:
“Why is this happening?”
The answer is as Allāh said:
“Say, it is from yourselves.”
[Āl ʿImrān, 3:165]
One of the greatest things that destroys homes of tranquility and comfort is frequent arguing, raised voices, the absence of cooperation, affection, and mercy, and the presence of means of wrongdoing and prohibited things in those homes.
Among the most dangerous, most harmful, and most destructive of these is the negligence of the people of the household regarding prayer: sons and daughters, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers.
That is the demolishing pickaxe, the deadly poison with which no life can remain stable.
By Allāh, even if one were to eat the finest food and sit on luxurious couches, if he is devoid of this great act of worship, he will find nothing but constriction and gloom.

| 11 | Clarifying Some of the Forms of Cooperation Between the Believers
🎙️ Shaykh Abū Sulaymān Salmān Al-ʿImād, may Allāh preserve him.
Mentions: ⤵️
Among the forms of cooperation between the believers is cooperating through one's physical effort and service.
The Prophet ((ﷺ)) said:
> "Every joint of a person owes charity each day: reconciling between two people is charity; helping a man with his riding animal by lifting him onto it or lifting his belongings onto it is charity; removing something harmful from the road is charity; and a good word is charity."
If you are able to help a person with your physical effort, by serving him or assisting him, then do so. This is one of the forms of cooperation between the believers.
It is a sign of a gentle and pleasant nature, good character, nobility of the soul, and humility.

| 18 | Trustworthiness (Al-Amānah)
Ash-Shaykh Abee Sulaiman
Salman Al-Imad ((حفظه الله))
Explains:⤵️
Therefore, O believers, trustworthiness is of immense importance.
For this reason, Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, described His angels with it. Rather, the best of the angels was distinguished by it:
"Indeed, it is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.
The Trustworthy Spirit (Jibrīl) brought it down upon your heart so that you may be among the warners."
(Ash-Shuʿarāʾ 26:192–194)
Allaah also said:⤵️
"[Jibrīl is] obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy."
(Sūrah at-Takwīr 81:21)
And He said:⤵️
"And your companion is not mad."
(Sūrah at-Takwīr 22)
Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, also mentions in Sūrah ash-Shuʿarāʾ, when recounting the stories of a number of His Prophets and Messengers such as Nūḥ, Ṣāliḥ, Lūṭ, and Shuʿayb that each one of them said to his people:
"Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger."
( Ash-Shuʿarāʾ ( 143,)
The mission of the Prophets and Messengers cannot be established except upon trustworthiness.
It is the hallmark of integrity and true religious devotion, whereas betrayal is a sign of humiliation and disgrace.
For this reason, when the philosopher Abū Al-ʿAlāʾ Al-Maʿarrī objected, saying:
"A hand for which the blood-money is five hundred dinars of pure gold why is it cut off for stealing something worth only a quarter of a dinar?"
Al-Qāḍī ʿAbd Al-Wahhāb
Al-Mālikī {رحمه الله} replied:⤵️
"It was precious so long as it was trustworthy; when it betrayed, it became worthless."
Another poet then said:
Say to Al-Maʿarrī: Shame what a disgrace!
The ignorance of a man while he is stripped of the garment of piety.
The honour of trustworthiness makes what is lowly priceless,
And the humiliation of betrayal makes what is precious worthless.
So understand the wisdom of the Creator.

| 19 | Is a Written Response Obligatory When Salām Is Sent in Writing?
Sheikh Salmān Al-ʿImād حفظه الله says:
"Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allāh be upon you as well. May Allah protect and preserve you, dear brother.
This issue is frequently raised and often misunderstood. Many people send salām in written form through various means of communication—such as WhatsApp messages, text messages, and other platforms—followed by a question, inquiry, or concern. This may be addressed to a student of knowledge, a daa'ee, a scholar, someone of lesser status, or even a friend.
If the greeting is not explicitly returned in writing, the sender may take offense, express disappointment, or even rebuke the recipient using harsh words. Some may even cite the Āyah: "When you are greeted with a greeting, respond with one better than it or return it in like manner." [Sūrah An-Nisāʾ: 86]
This matter has been discussed in the books of Fiqh, by both classical and contemporary scholars. The core question is: if someone sends you salām via a messenger or in writing, are you religiously obligated to respond in writing as well, or is it sufficient to respond verbally even if you do not reply in writing?
The conclusion is that if someone sends you salaam in writing or through a messenger, the basic principle is to return the greeting in the same manner—i.e., in writing or via the messenger. However, if one responds verbally—for instance, upon reading a message that says, "As-salamu ʿalaykum wa rahmatullah", the recipient verbally replies, "Wa ʿalaykum as-salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh", and then becomes occupied or chooses not to respond in writing—then the religious obligation to return the greeting has been fulfilled. This view was mentioned by the esteemed scholar Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn (may Allāh have mercy on him) in his Liqāʾ Al-Bāb Al-Maftūḥ sessions.
This is a summary of the issue. Therefore, a Muslim should not harbour ill feelings toward his fellow Muslim in such matters. People may be preoccupied for one reason or another. Sometimes a person reads the message, responds with the greeting verbally, especially if the sender is someone they hold dear or respect, but due to distractions or other concerns, they may forget to reply in writing. Allāh is the One whose help is sought.
This is what I found necessary to clarify on this matter. All praise is due to Allāh, Lord of the Worlds. May Allāh bless you.
