Chronology is the backbone of History Optional. A clear understanding of timelines makes the subject much easier to grasp and retain. This becomes especially crucial in grey areas like the Post-Mauryan period and the Post-Gupta phase, where overlapping dynasties can create confusion.
It is advisable to study political chronology region-wise—separately for North, South, and East India. Once this structure is clear, history becomes much more logical and manageable.
