Nix as a technology isn't alone:
- Windows Vista and onward introduced a centralized WinSxS store for system components (and it was originally introduced in Windows 98) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Side-by-side_assembly

Not sure if anyone needs this, but I found that nixpkgs itself has documentation and useful pages like buildGoModule and other language wrappers, wrote an alias with fzf search and html rendering of markdown without searching everything on Github. 😼
