What if you could play a Begena without actually touching one? I built a small web app that lets you play Begena using only the camera on your phone or computer. The idea came to me after seeing people use cameras to create musical sounds with hand movements. I wanted to try making something similar with one of EOTC's instruments. So I gave it a shot. The app tracks the hand and detect finger movements. Each finger is mapped to a different Begena string, so by bending your fingers in front of the camera, just like you normally do, you can play the instrument in real time. It uses MediaPipe for hand tracking, JavaScript for finger detection and Web Audio API to play the sounds. (I recorded each sound from my Begena) Has 4 ቅኝትs (ሰላምታ ስለቸርነትህ ዋኔን አምባሰል) all in D major for now. I’ve attached a demo video. Try it: [BEGENA CAM] Built with some AI assistance😁 Apparently, I could. I love to complain about ክረምት because the sky somehow decides to open up the exact moment I step outside 😭😂....To be fair, I actually started leaving the house this summer, so maybe the rain is just surprised to see me. Even with the mud and soaked shoes ነሐሴ has to be the most magical month of the year lol....ፍልሰታ season where you watch everybody and their mommas trying not to be late for ቅዳሴ😁....kids going in groups holding their mat and umbrella.....The nostalgia hits so hard this time of year....You hear boys practicing their ጅራፍ in the street, neighborhood kids banging at your door screaming ሆያሆዬ until someone drops some money in their pockets(and don't even get me started on their glazing ግጥም lol).....and the smell of fresh ሙልሙል baked in ኮባ, the ደመራ and ችቦ height competition on ደብረታቦር.....and the sight as kids get ready for እንቁጣጣሽ ሽቀላ painting flowers, angels, sunrays....to handout door to door.... Kids these days just do it for the money teyalesh😂 Yet right underneath all that comfort, the dev summer dread kicks in....The quiet panic of wondering if I built enough projects or learned enough frameworks before classes start creeps in fast. August always feels like standing right on the edge of two worlds.....It is that familiar mix of guilt over what wasn’t accomplished, letting go of the old year's weight and hoping the አደይ አበባ brings a fresh start✨

Ask what he posted today, yesterday, or any date. Get the highlights, not the flood. It's got a bit of personality too. /babiometer - how spicy today's post count is /roast - a little dragging of the channel's posting habits /guess - bet on tomorrow's post count against the group /excuse - a ready excuse for why you're behind again It's not locked to Babi's channel either. Point it at any channel you want. Your group's chaos poster, a news channel, whatever's flooding your notifications. Babi's just the default. He's the reason this exists in the first place.
